Horizon Forbidden West

Trial 6: Silent Gliding Trial

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Hunting Grounds are challenges that will test your mettle with various weapons in the game. This page will detail the Tear Trial at the Hunting Ground in Plainsong.

Silent Gliding Trial at the Plainsong Hunting Ground

Where To Find The Hunting Ground in Plainsong

While you can find the site of the Hunting Ground as soon as you have access to this area, you will be denied permission to participate in the trials until you have completed the main quest, The Dying Lands. Once you finish that portion of the main story, you will be able to locate the Hunting Ground to the northwest of the Plainsong settlement. If you have also located the Restless Weald Relic Ruin, then it will be directly east from there.

Grounds Keeper’s Tips

  • Hold Square to deploy the Shieldwing while in mid-air.
  • While gliding, hover over an unalerted machine and tap R1 to kill it.
  • When in range of a Grapple Point, jump and quickly tap X while in the air to use it. Tap Circle before reaching the Grapple Point to launch into the air.
  • Use Grapple Points to launc into the air and deploy your Shieldwing.
  • A red indicator means a machine has spotted you.

How to Complete the Silent Gliding Trial

This Trial to similar the second one, except you will need to do the Strike from Above while hanging from your Shieldwing. As mentioned in the tips above, you hold down the Square button while in the air to deploy your Shieldwing, which will make you glide slowly to the ground. While doing this, you will need to glide over an unalerted machine and do a Strike from Above stealth kill; this needs to be done on only two enemies. Throughout the grounds, you will see a bunch of poles that act as Grapple Points. Grapple to one of these, then press Circle before hitting the top of the pole to launch yourself into the air. From there, you can glide to the machines or just grapple to another pole.

At the beginning, the best thing to do is to grapple to the pole in front of you, which won’t start the timer. Once you see the initial Burrower, jump off the pole and glide over to it to perform the Strike from Above on it. As soon as you can move again, go to the hill to the north, then grapple to the one pole there. Launch yourself off of it like described above (or just jump off like with the first), deploy your Shieldwing, and perform the second kill on the Burrower that should be in that little valley now. If it isn’t there, then simply wait or move onto another one, since you only have a minute to get both kills for the Full Stripes.
