Horizon Forbidden West

Scrapper

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Throughout your journey in Forbidden West, you will come across a variety of Machines, most of which will be out to attack you. This page will concentrate on the Acquisition Machine, the Scrapper.

General Information

An agile scavenger, often seen in packs, that breaks down machine carcasses for recycling. It continually scans for threats and will defend its salvage from intruders.

Tips for Defeating the Scrapper

The Scrapper is a bit like the Scrounger, in terms of how it functions, although it doesn’t have the same moveset as it. Thankfully, the Scrapper doesn’t have that annoying little shockwave with its melee attacks, so you have more leeway with dodging them. They are usually found with other Machines, or whenever you find some machine carcasses. The Scrapper, seemingly when you are facing it one-on-one, will typically stick close to you and try for its melee attacks, which are easy to dodge, as there is really only a lunge or two.

The other two attacks, which utilize the Plasma Cell by its hind legs, seem to be a bit more rare. If you are fighting more than one machine at a time, with a Scrapper present, then it might be more prone to using its ranged attacks. The one ranged attack is it firing a bunch of Plasma projectiles at you in quick succession, like a machine gun. The spread isn’t big, so it’s not tough to avoid. The other ranged attack will have the Scrapper fire a steady laser beam that it will sweep across the battlefield once, before it dissipates. Overall, though, the Scrapper is a pretty standard machine and shouldn’t be too difficult for you to bring down.

Loot (Body)

All of the loot in the table below can drop upon killing the Machine and looting its body.

Loot Chance to Drop
Glowblast 100%
Metal Shards 100%
Volatile Slude 50% (Apex only)
Apex Scrapper Heart 45% (Apex only)
Machine Muscle 30-31%
Scrapper Circulator 22-23%
Braided Wire 20-21%
Small Machine Core 17%
Scrapper Primary Nerve 15-17%
Sturdy Hardplate 10-11%
Metal Bone 10-11%

Loot (Radar)

The Radar is a part located on the middle of the back of the Scrapper and should be the first thing you shoot off of it. The Scrapper can use this to emit a pulse that reveals enemies, including those in stealth, and it also can scramble Focus signals. Removing it will disable the radar pulse, and will also net you exclusive loot. This part is destroyed upon killing the Machine.

Loot (Plasma Cell)

The Plasma Cell is located right above the hind legs on the Scrapper and is used to power its two ranged attacks. Destroying/detaching this will remove those two attacks, although it doesn’t use them too often. You can shoot this with Plasma ammo to trigger an explosion, similar to other elemental parts. This part is the only way to get the Scrapper Spark Coil, too, so you should always look to shooting it off the machine. This part is destroyed upon killing the Machine.
