Horizon Forbidden West

Impact Spike Thrower (Uncommon)

By
Staci Miller

The Impact Spike Thrower is part of the Spike Thrower archetype. Spike Throwers are simply spikes thrown that explode a few seconds after landing. While their execution can be very slow, they hit hard when they land, so they can be great in some situations.

The Impact Spike Thrower is one of the earliest accessible Spike Throwers in the game.

This is considered an Uncommon weapon.

Description

This balanced Tenakth weapon can launch powerful non-explosive spikes. Spikes must be thrown at full draw in order to penetrate armor.

Where to get the Impact Spike Thrower

This weapon can be obtained after completing the four Salvage Contract Quests you receive from Larent in Barren Light. These include:

  • Convoy Ambush
  • Scavengers
  • Alarm Antennas
  • Elusive Fanghorn

Here is the full information page.

Once you’ve done them all, Larent will gift you the Impact Spike Thrower.

Best Use

Spike Throwers are best used for slow machines that you want to get rid of quickly. Although the damage they can deal is shockingly mighty, it takes quite a while to load them up and quick machines may get the better of you in that time.

It can take a while to charge up, so best used from a distance like this.

They’re also great to use from some cover or a slight distance, where even the fastest machines might take a second to get to you.
