Horizon Forbidden West

Frost Blastsling (Uncommon)

By
Staci Miller

The Frost Blastsling is part of the Blastsling archetype. Blastslings have large areas of effect which make them ideal for direct or indirect hits. They are also the best weapons to build up an elemental state. The downside to Blastslings is they cannot tear off machine components.

The Frost Blastling is the first one you will likely come across in the game.

Description

This Oseram blastsling specializes in using Frost Bombs to make targets Brittle, during which they are more vulnerable to damage from other weapons.

Where to get the Frost Blastsling

The Frost Blastling is unlocked by doing the main quest Reach for the Stars. Varl will find one during the quest and hand it over to Aloy.

Best Use

The Blastsling is great for dealing damage to large machines and its only drawback is that it can’t knock components off machines.

Aim the Frost Blastling the same way you would any other weapon.

For the Frost Blastsling in particular, you should bring it out when you come across Machines that are weak to its Frost Bombs. These include:

  • Scroungers
  • Skydrifters
  • Fanghorns
  • Bellowbacks (fire variant)
  • Rockbreakers
  • Tiderippers
  • Scorchers
  • Slitherfangs
  • Tremortusks
  • Slaughterspines
  • Fireclaws
