How to Unlock The Gate of the Vanquished¶

You can unlock The Gate of the Vanquished by completing the previous side quest in the story, The Wound in the Sand. Once you’ve done this, The Gate of the Vanquished will automatically unlock.

How to Complete The Gate of the Vanquished¶

These are the steps you’ll need to make to complete the quest.

Go to the Gate¶

The first thing you’ll have to do is actually go to the Gate.

Go into the arena and talk to Jetakka. He will try to convince Yarra and Drakka to abandon the challenge, but they both refuse.

At this point, Aloy will attempt to step in. The conflict will continue, and Aloy will be forced to pick a side.

Even if you try to make them stand down, they’ll continuously refuse until you choose.

So which side should you choose?

Even if you try to back out of choosing one, the game will force you to stand by someone. If you choose Drakka, you fight against Yarra, and if you choose Yarra, you fight against Drakka. Jetakka will agree with your decision regardless of who you pick.

The Fight¶

You should take out the warriors that come towards you first, as they can deal a surprising amount of damage.

The fight looks slightly different depending on you choose but ultimately, the story does not change.

You’ll then have to take out whoever you’re fighting.

The End¶

If Yarra wins, she keeps her position as Commander. If Drakka wins, he will be the new Commander of the Desert Clan.

Whoever loses will die. Aloy isn’t happy with that decision, but it doesn’t matter — Drakka or Yarra is convinced the other shouldn’t stay alive. They’ll then reward you wth the Firestorm Bow and the quest is finished.
