Tear Trial at the Hunting Ground in The Daunt

Where To Find The Hunting Ground In The Daunt

As you progress through the main story and rescue the Oseram Trapper during the main mission, To the Brink, you will be told about this Hunting Grounds and the location will be pinpointed on your map. If you leave Barren Light via the northern exit, you will come to a bridge on your eastern side. Directly east of the bridge will be the location of the Hunting Ground.

Stripes

Stripes Time Needed Rewards
Quarter Stripes 10:00 4 Hunting Medals, 20 Metal Shards, Small Machine Core
Half Stripes 02:30 5 Hunting Medals, 35 Metal Shards, 5 Sparkers, Small Machine Core
Full Stripes 01:30 6 Hunting Medals, 50 Metal Shards, 5 Sparkers, Scrounger Circulator, Medium Machine Core

Grounds Keeper’s Tips

  • Use your Focus to tag a Scrounger’s Power Cell and make it easier to spot.
  • Use weapons and ammo that inflict Tear damage to remove components.
  • Use the Shock Warrior Bow or a Shock Tripcaster to put a machine in the Shocked state and immobilize it. Parts can then be torn off more easily.
  • Resources obtained when looting Power Cells can be used to craft Shock ammo.
  • When a machine dies, you can no longer shoot off its components.

How to Complete the Tear Trial

As the first Trial in the game, it can be incredibly easy, but you will want to move quickly. The objective of this Trial is to shoot off and loot two Scrounger Power Cells. The Power Cell is located on the back of the Scrounger, above its hind legs, so you will want to have a clear shot at it before attempting the shot. If the Scrounger is alerted to your presence, then it will make things more difficult, since the machine will be facing you. It’s important to not kill the Scroungers, as you cannot shoot off the Power Cell from a dead body. The best way to go about things here is slide down the rope at the beginning to start the timer, then focus on finding two Scroungers.

As soon as you do, use your Hunter Bow (probably your best weapon at the point you can first access the Hunting Ground) to aim at the Power Cells and shoot them until they fall off of the machine. Do this to the two Scroungers, then rush down and loot them, hopefully not getting hit/killed in the process. Upon collecting the two Power Cells, the Trial will be over and you can return to the Grounds Keeper for your reward. Despite the hints saying to shock the Scroungers, it’s not necessary to do this and you don’t want to hit the Power Cells with Shock Arrows, as that will cause them to explode.
