Horizon Forbidden West

Slicing Hunter Bow (Rare)

By
Nathan Garvin

Information about the Slicing Hunter Bow in Horizon Forbidden West, including how to obtain it, how to upgrade it, and what the strengths and weaknesses of the Slicing Hunter Bow are.

Slicing Hunter Bow Description

“This mid-range bow is optimized for tearing off machine parts. A coveted weapon among Utaru warriors.”

You can buy the Slicing Hunter Bow from the Hunter in Plainsong.

How to Get the Slicing Hunter Bow

Location Cost
Plainsong Hunter 549 Metal Shards + 1x Clawstrider Circulator

You can buy this bow from various merchants in the eastern half of the Forbidden West. To access these areas you must complete the quest The Embassy. The Hunter in Plainsong is one of the first merchants you’ll come across who sells it.

In addition to Metal Shards you’ll need to furnish the merchant with a [Clawstrider] Circulator, an Uncommon drop from Clawstriders. You can find several of them just north of Plainsong.

How to Use the Slicing Hunter Bow

At first glance the Slicing Hunter Bow is of dubious value, being a marginal increase over the starting [Hunter Bow], and some of this statistical advantage is merely due to the fact that the Slicing Hunter Bow can be upgraded further than its more common counterpart.

The Slicing Hunter Bow has one major advantage over all Hunter Bows found previously, however: it can use Advanced Hunter Arrows. These are roughly twice as powerful, albeit at the cost of being over ten times more expensive to craft (in terms of Metal Shards per arrow). Still, it’s a fairly significant upgrade in damage output, much-needed for the more powerful machines you’ll be facing as you venture further west.

The weapon deals more damage when shots are overdrawn as well as gaining bonus Tear damage against components, both useful perks for this class of weapon. When upgraded it can gain up to two Coil Slots.
