Information about the Delver Tripcaster in Horizon Forbidden West, including how to obtain it, how to upgrade it, and what the strengths and weaknesses of the Delver Tripcaster are.
A delver’s best friend. This weapon excels at placing Shieldwires and Explosive Tripwires. Can be upgraded to use Advanced Explosive Tripwires and deal extra damage against unaware enemies.
1437x Metal Shards, 1x Elemental Clawstrider Circulator, 1x Large Machine Core
Once you have access to the western half of the map, you can visit a village call Fall’s Edge, to the southwest of The Memorial Grove. It requires an Elemental Clawstrider Circulator, as well as a Large Machine Core. The latter can drop from any Heavyweight class machine, while the former requires you to find either a Fire or Acid Clawstrider (or their Apex versions). There is an Acid Clawstrider site not too far south from The Memorial Grove.
The Delver Tripcaster is the explosive-focused Tripcaster of the entire weapon class. You have access to both the normal Explosive Tripwires, as well as the Advanced version, once you unlock those. If you don’t care about harvesting the machine components, then you can set up ambushes for certain machines to deal some major damage. The only problem with the Advanced Explosive Tripwires is that they are expensive to craft outside of the crafting bench, so you’re not going to get many out of your supply. Shieldwires can be used in combat, especially if you’re against a projectile-heavy enemy, but you can also set traps with them, as you can shoot them with your own arrows to make them explode.
Elemental Clawstrider Sac Webbing: Rare drop from Acid/Fire [Clawstrider] variants. You must avoid destroying the Acid Sac or Blaze Sac to loot this component.
Shellsnapper Shell Bolt: Very Rare component from Shellsnappers. Must be detached before the machine is destroyed. You can find a site at the following location. They can bury themselves underground, so run around the area until it surfaces.
Luminous Brainstem: Very Rare drop from all Heavyweight machines, as well as [Scorchers] and [Apex Frostclaws].
Tideripper Primary Nerve: Rare drop from Tiderippers.
Dreadwing Metal Fang: Very Rare drop from [Dreadwings]. Must be detatched before the machine is destroyed. Dreadwings can be found near LATOPOLIS after the quest [Seeds of the Past]. Alternatively, you may be able to find a Dreadwing earlier in the mountains southeast of Cliffwatch, in the blacked-out, supposedly “inaccessible” part of the mountain range.
Apex Tremortusk Heart: Guaranteed drop from an Apex Tremortusk. Tremortusks are not found in the wild until you’ve completed The Broken Sky. There is a site to the southwest of The Stillsands Relic Ruins, so check there at night to see if the Apex version has spawned.
