The fourth main quest in Final Fantasy XVI, Sunrise, Sunset begins immediately after you complete (or skip) the combat tutorial with the Lord Commander (see the page Pride Walkthrough - Combat Tutorial for more information). This page will cover Sunset, Sunrise, including missable items you can find in Rosalith Castle.

Exploring Rosalith Castle - FF16 Sunrise, Sunset Main Quest Walkthrough¶

When you’re back in control after your match with the Lord Commander, consider holding down to see the new ATL entries, after which you can explore Rosalith Castle. There’s not a whole lot to see around Rosalith Castle at the moment, but if you search a barrel near some tents to the left of the road you’ll find a shimmering beam of light, indicating an item you can pick up. In this case it’s a Potion - just approach the beam of light and you’ll automatically acquire said Potion.

Continue past the tents to reach the training pen, then turn right and head up some stairs to trigger a cutscene, where the duchy’s caste system is put on display. Again, consider checking your ATL after the scene - you’ve been been exposed to one the game’s main plot points with surprisingly little fanfare. Once you ascend the stone steps turn left and go up a flight of wooden steps to find another item - a High Potion. Backtrack to the stone stairs and head through a wooden door, then a gate to reach the garden outside of the castle. Cross to the far side of the garden and search near some pillars to find another Potion.

After you’re done in Rosalind Castle, you’ll need to travel to Stillwind to continue the main questline.

Enter the castle (force the door by pressing then ), then head towards the throne room to trigger another scene. After you get tomorrow’s itinerary, head upstairs and go to your room for more scenes, after which this quest will end. When you’re out on the world map, travel to Stillwind, where the next main quest Lost in a Fog will begin.
