Final Fantasy XVI features a wide variety of different activities that you can get stuck into. Early on in Clive’s adventure, you’ll gain access to the Arete Stone at the Hideaway, and it will present you with a number of options. Stage Replay is one such option, and this page will inform you of everything you can do with it.
To access Stage Replay, you must progress through the Main Quest until you complete the Fanning Embers Main Quest, early on in the adventure. Return to the Hideaway and access the Arete Stone to find two new options, Arcade Mode and Stage Replay.
Stage Replay Conditions¶
The purpose of Stage Replay is similar to Arcade Mode, in that you can replay those parts of the Main Quest that is one-time only (like most of the dungeons), but that’s where the similarities end. Whereas the goal of Arcade Mode is to judge your battle prowess and give you a grade, Stage Replay is about keeping your EXP, Gil, AP, and any items you find.
This means that if you missed any of the Coffers in a particular Stage, you can replay the stage and find it again, perhaps by using the walkthroughs found on our guides. It also offers a way to grind certain enemies for their materials or EXP, although heading to some of the larger regions can fulfill that purpose too.
Finally, you can use Stage Replay as a means to re-fighting some of the epic main story bosses, and perhaps try to earn their exclusive Coins for beating them without getting struck. Do note however that the EXP you earned from enemies in previous stages are slightly reduced, so the main draw of this is more to re-fight certain bosses and go for their flawless medals should you manage to defeat them without getting hit.
