Assassin's Creed Mirage

Al-Pairika Investigation - The Treasurer - Assassin’s Creed Mirage

By
Scott Peers

The Al-Pairika investigation in Assassin’s Creed Mirage can be started once you’ve completed the Al-Anqa and Al-Kullulu investigations. You’ll need to meet Roshan near the Bazaar in the merchant’s district of Karkh. The main objective here is to secure a unique hairpin by bidding on it at the auction and keeping it out of the hands of The Treasurer. On this page, we’ll show you how to identify the treasurer and gain an audience with them, where to find an Ivory Coin’s brooch so that you can enter the Chamber of Antiquities, and how to assassinate Ning.

The Al-Pairika investigation in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Gilded Butterflies - Expose the Treasurer’s Identity

The first thing you need to do when you reach the Bazaar is look for information about the identity of the mysterious treasurer. It’s not immediately obvious how you can do this, but your first point of call should be to find and speak with Basim’s friend, Kong, who can be found inside the Bazaar. Go through the entrance to the southwest from the fountain, then turn right to find Kong at a stall where he’s selling his tea.

Basim will ask Kong whether he has any intel on the treasurer, but despite being a supposed friend, he’s not willing to give it up without something in return. He asks Basim to retrieve a stolen plate, which he claims was taken by Luca, a rival merchant. Whether or not you believe him, obtaining the plate is the only way forward for now, so you’ll have to do it. Head north from Kong’s stall, through the Bazaar as you turn west, then outside the market area to the northwest. Here you’ll find Luca’s stall, but the plate is well hidden.

Location of Kong’s Plate at Luca’s Stall

To find the plate, go behind the main stall into a section of the building where there’s a small door to the southeast. Go through here to find a movable barricade on your left. You need to drag this to the other side of the room (heading southwest), then use it to climb up to the fire pots on the shelf there. Pick up one of the fire pots and use crouch to jump back down on the barricade with it. You can then get back to the ground floor, and throw the fire pot at the destructible wall on the northwest side of the room.

(1 of 4) Move the barricade from one side of the room to the other.

With the wall destroyed, you can now take the movable barricade to the other side, where you need to drag and then push it to the northeast, just below the exit. You’ll see some wooden joists above, which you can climb onto from the top of the movable barricade. At the top, you’ll find the rare plate that Kong wants you to retrieve. Before you leave with the plate, be sure to read the Our Time to Shine note on the bench opposite. You can now return to Kong to obtain the information you need.

It turns out that Kong was lying to you, and the plate belonged to Luca all along. Basim is no stranger to stealing, so it’s not exactly the most shocking thing to be tricked into, but it’s still a dodgy trait in a friend. In any case, you can now visit the foreign merchant’s stall, who Kong tells you is the most likely current owner of the hairpin that the treasurer wants.

Visit the Foreign Merchant’s Stall

The stall you’re looking for is on the opposite side of the Bazaar from Kong’s stall. Just head north, then southwest, and take your first left southward up the stairs. You should hear the foreign merchant calling out as you approach the stairs. He’ll ask you to inspect some of his goods, which include textiles, fruit, and yes, hairpins. It’s not long before he mentions that he has the unique hairpin, but he’s only willing to sell it at auction, where the treasurer is willing to offer a lot of money. After the merchant mentions the hairpin, there’s nothing more you can do at his stall.

(1 of 2) Go up the steps to the foreign merchant’s stall.

Eavesdrop on the Perfume Supplier and Qabiha

Once you’re done with the foreign merchant, use Eagle Vision and look to the east. You should see an NPC marked in orange, who you’ll need to eavesdrop on. Sit on the bench behind them to listen in on the conversation between a perfume supplier and a woman named Qabiha. They soon realize that it’s not safe to talk where they are, so they decide to go to a more secluded place. You now need to follow them through the market until they stop in a luxurious lounge area. Same again: sit on the bench and eavesdrop.

When the conversation between the perfume supplier and Qabiha is over, you can go ahead and speak with Qabiha openly. She’ll tell you a bit about the perfume they’ve been discussing, which requires drops of blood to perfect. It’s a perfume that the treasurer uses, which is enough information to go on for now. It’s time to attend the auction.

(1 of 4) Use Eagle Vision to locate Qabiha from the foreign merchant’s stall.

Gain an Audience With the Treasurer

Now that you have enough information to potentially identify the treasurer, you can find a way to gain an audience with them. The first thing you’ll need to do is secure the hairpin at the auction.

Attend the Great Auction - Should You Bid on the Hairpin?

The Great Auction is being held in the auction hall, which is within the Bazaar. Just follow the quest marker to it and let the cutscene begin. It won’t be long before the hairpin is presented, and you’ll have an opportunity to bid on the hairpin. You’ll notice that you have the option to bid, or do nothing. There isn’t much of a difference in the outcome of the quest here, but if you have enough Dirham to bid, you can get the hairpin sooner rather than later. You’re going to get it anyway, so we recommend that you do nothing and let the treasurer or one of the other merchants obtain it.

Where to Find the Ivory Coin’s Brooch

Whether or not you won the bid on the hairpin at the auction, you’ll need to get an Ivory Coin’s brooch if you want to gain an audience with the treasurer, now revealed as a foreign merchant named Ning. To make sure that you activate this part of the quest, go down the hallway to the northwest from the auction hall, then turn northeast. The entrance to the Chamber of Antiquities is through the door at the end of the hallway here, but the guard won’t let you pass unless you have an Ivory Coin’s brooch.

To get the brooch, you need to speak with a spice merchant who can be found at the easternmost point of the Bazaar, near the entrance there. She has the information you need, but you’ll need to bribe her for it with 150 Dirham, or a Scholar Token. Whichever way you choose, the mission objective will update once she tells you where to find the brooch, and you can see it as a document to the southwest when you use Eagle Vision.

(1 of 4) Speak with the Spice Merchant to obtain information on the location of the Ivory Coin’s brooch.

The building where the Ivory Coin’s brooch is kept is fairly well guarded, but you can sneak in by crouching under the hole in the wall to the right of the main entrance. From here, go through the door to the southeast, then through the door to the southwest. There are two guards in this room that you’ll need to kill, then find the brooch on the table where they were talking. If you approach from above on the wooden beams, you can assassinate them both at the same time.

Assassinate Ning, the Treasurer

Now that you have the Ivory Coin’s brooch, you can head back to the Chamber of Antiquities where you first encountered the guard who demanded to see the brooch. This time he’ll let you pass without any questions, and you’ll need to follow him inside.

As you follow the guard inside the Chamber of Antiquities, you’ll have a chance to assassinate him alongside two other guards in a narrow hallway. You should do this since you’re about to be attacked by many more guards once you get further in. If you do it this way, you can assassinate them from stealth rather than face them all head-on at once.

However you decide to take on the guards, Ning will run upstairs as the fighting ensues. She’ll be followed by the captain of the guard, who you’ll need to kill last of all before you can get to her. As ever, the best way to kill captains outside of using specific tools is to dodge behind them, and then execute a few regular hits. Rinse and repeat until they’re dead, then assassinate Ning to complete the mission.

(1 of 2) As you walk through the Chamber of Antiquities, assassinate the guards here first.
