Assassin's Creed Mirage

Al-Kullulu Investigation - The Harbormaster - Assassin’s Creed Mirage

By
Scott Peers

The Al-Kullulu investigation can be started from the Karkh Bureau, in the southeast of Baghdad. It becomes available after you’ve visited the bureau for the first time, at which point you’ll see “An Old Friend” in the investigations log. The friend is called Kong, a tea merchant who can be found at his stall in the Tabik district, just south of the Karkh Bureau. Kong has a favor to ask, which leads you to the Harbormaster, an associate of the Order of the Ancients. On this page, we’ll show you how to retrieve Kong’s tea leaves from the warehouse, and where to find the clues which lead you to the Harbormaster.

Coin, Corruption, and Tea

As you reunite with Kong near his stall in the Tabik district, you’ll see him in a dispute with a fellow merchant. Kong pretends not to recognize Basim at first, but he soon begins referring to him as “little finch”, a childhood nickname. Kong informs Basim that some of his tea leaves have been confiscated by the guards, who are checking all goods for a mysterious artifact. It turns out that Basim is looking for just such an artifact, so he can kill two birds with one stone by retrieving the tea leaves while investigating the warehouse.

Where to Find Kong’s Tea Leaves

The warehouse you’re linking for is located roughly 70 meters to the northeast of Kong’s stall, so you don’t have far to travel. When you arrive, climb the walls on the northeast side to find an open window, through which you can throw a knife at the fire pots inside. This will cause an explosion that will attract the guards, allowing you to sneak inside the warehouse and assassinate them while they’re not expecting it.

Once you’ve dealt with the guards inside the warehouse, you’ll have free reign to explore it for the confiscated tea leaves. They can be found behind a barricade on the second floor, which you’ll have to move backward in order to access them. There are two crates of tea leaves here, but you can only take one back to Kong. Before you pick it up, open the locked door next to them, which provides a way out along the rooftops. You can jump between most objects while carrying the crate, and all you need to do is return it to Kong’s stall.

Confiscation Warehouse - Locations of the Clues

After bringing the tea leaves back to Kong, he’ll tell you about a larger warehouse located near the east gate of Karkh. You can speak with the merchant just outside Kong’s stall to get a more precise location, but you need to give him a Scholar Token in return for the information. Either way, you can check the screenshot below to see where it is. Just head east from the stall until you near the entrance, then use your bird to scout the area and highlight the warehouse.

The Confiscation Warehouse is heavily guarded, much more so than the smaller one where you found Kong’s tea leaves. You can hire some mercenaries outside the main entrance to help you fight the guards, or you can infiltrate it via a hole in the fence on the southwest side. Either way, you need to assassinate most of the guards within if you want to find the clues that will lead you to the Harbormaster. As ever, the easiest way to locate them is to use Eagle Vision, which will highlight all relevant documents in orange. The documents you need are the following:

  • Instructions from the Harbormaster
  • Sweetly Scented Letter
  • Goods in Holding

The first note mentioned above can be found in a building on the southwest side of the warehouse grounds. The second is in an open-air tent on the northeast side, and the third is in a building on the northwest side. With all of the clues obtained, you can locate and assassinate the Harbormaster.

Assassinate Al-Kullulu (aka the Harbormaster)

Now that you’ve revealed Al-Kullulu as the Harbormaster, and confirmed that he’s a member of the Order of the Ancients, you can go to the harbor in the northeast of Karkh, within the Sharqiyah district, as shown in the screenshot below. This area isn’t anywhere near as well guarded as the Confiscated Warehouse, so you should have an easy time of infiltrating it. Even so, if you need some advice, look to the south side for a hole in the wall. It will be watched over by a guard, so you’ll need to assassinate them first.

Once you’re in the grounds of the harbor you’ll find plenty of guards within the courtyard. You can quietly assassinate them if you’re careful, but don’t worry if you’re seen: they should be easy to take out as a group, and they can’t call for reinforcements here. After dealing with them, you can find the Harbormaster on the ramparts of the building above the courtyard. He’s just a regular captain, so you can assassinate him in one hit. However, we recommend hitting the spice bags nearby to disorient the other guards as well, then take them all out at once.

(1 of 4) You can find the Harbormaster at the docks in the northern part of Karkh.

With the Harbormaster dead, the mission will complete once you return to Kong at his stall.
