There are six Tales From Baghdad for you to find while playing Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. Some of them are easy to find, like A Life’s Work, as they are located close to Viewpoints. Sadly, that’s about the only thing that’s easy about A Life’s Work. It’s a tricky Tale to complete. You must hunt down three scattered pages, and you are given little to work with when locating them. The guide below goes over how to complete A Life’s Work, where to find all of Al-Mahani’s pages, and what to tell his son at the end.
How to Complete A Life’s Work - Tale from Baghdad¶
To find A Life’s Work Tale From Baghdad, you are going to need to venture to the west side of the map. You are going to visit the Observatory, a location with a Viewpoint on top of it, in Abbasiyah. You will want to get to the southern portion of the Observatory. Here, you will find a man complaining about being in pain. The man will be sitting on the nearby bench in front of the building. His name is Al-Mahani. Al-Mahani will tell you that he is dying but doesn’t want his life’s work to fall into the hands of his rival.
Basim will be tasked with finding three pages of a research paper that have been scattered by the winds. Before you can begin searching, however, Al-Mahani will attempt to get up and walk with you. After taking a few steps, he will collapse. Walk over to Al-Mahani. You will need to hold in the button shown on your screen to help him up. There is a possible glitch here where you won’t be able to interact with Al-Mahani after he collapses. To fix this, fast travel away from the location and then back to the area. After he sits on the nearby bench to rest, head up to the building top on your left. You can use your Eagle Vision to locate the page. It will be blowing in the wind. When you get close to it, the page will blow off around the northern side of the Observatory. Follow it. The page will land on another rooftop. Grab it.
You will now want to head to a window on the northern side of the Observatory. There is a movable shelf near it. Pull the shelf to the end of the floor indention. Once this is done, climb on top of it. Equip your throwing knives. If you don’t have any, then you won’t be able to complete this section of the mission. You are going to be using the throwing knives to break the door latch on the other side of the locked room. Aim through the window until the red indicator pops up; once it does, throw the knife.
Make your way around to the front of the observatory near Al-Mahini and go in the door. You will find the next page sitting on the table upstairs. The final page is the easiest to find. If you have already unlocked the viewpoint on the top of the building, then fast-travel to it. If not, then climb up to the top of the Observatory. Once there, you will see a table with the final page written on it. Use the viewpoint to perform a leap of faith. This will get you back down to Al-Mahini quickly. Once on the ground, you will find Al-Mahini dead, with his son kneeling beside him.
Speak with the son to give him the pages. He will ask you what his dad said before he died; you can either lie or tell the truth. Whether you say the son was most important to Al-Mahini or not is completely up to you. After you’ve spoken with the son, the quest will be completed, earning you a skill point.
