Assassin's Creed Mirage

Mazalim Court - Investigate Muhammad’s Office - Assassin's Creed Mirage

By
Scott Peers

At this point in the Assassin’s Creed Mirage story, Basim has discovered that the poet Arib has no connection with the Order of the Ancients, at least not anymore. Qabiha is more suspect, but you can’t search for her until you’ve confirmed what the nature of Governor Muhammad’s relationship with the Order is. To find him you need to travel to the Mazalim Court in Baghdad, a place where one of his spies regularly retrieves information for his master. On this page, we’ll guide you through how to tail the spy (aka the Tahirid Messenger) without being seen, where to find the Governor’s Office at the Shurta Headquarters, and how to get the key to his locked office door.

Judge and Executioner - Investigate the Mazalim Court

To locate and interrogate Governor Muhammad, you first need to investigate the Mazalim Court, located in the Administrative District of the Round City in Baghdad. Make your way there and use your bird to scout the building. In this case your access to the inside of the building isn’t restricted, so you can just walk in through the front doors. Once inside, speak with the judge who can be found in the room on the western side of the building. He won’t be willing to give you much information initially, but you can bribe him with a total of four Scholar Tokens to learn more.

Tail the Tahirid Messenger

The Scholar Tokens were enough to convince the judge to tell you a bit about Muhammad, including that he keeps one of his spies at the Mazalim Court. The spy moves from the court to Muhammad’s office every day at noon, so you should be able to wait for him and then follow him. Go back to the main courtyard of the Mazalim Court. If you don’t see the spy there, sit on the nearby bench until the time of day transitions to noon. You should then see the spy near the entrance, and you can move closer to begin following him.

(1 of 4) You can pass the time to noon by sitting on the bench to spawn the spy.

Find the Governor’s Office at the Shurta Headquarters

So long as you keep out of sight, it won’t be long before the spy reaches his destination at the Shurta (police) Headquarters. This is a heavily guarded building so you won’t be able to follow the spy inside. Instead, you’ll need to find another way in by climbing to the roof. There are numerous guards up here too, but you’ll have a better chance of assassinating them one by one as you hide behind the storage boxes.

Find the Key for Governor Muhammad’s Office

Once all the guards on the roof are dead, or at least enough to clear your path, go to the balcony on the eastern side of the building to get inside. You’ll find more guards within but they can be taken out with ease. At the western end of the hallway you’ll find the door to Muhammad’s office. However, it’s locked, so you need to get the key from one of the guards below. Use Eagle Vision to highlight the guard with the key, which for us was one of the guards in a group of four. The best way to kill these quickly is by throwing a smoke bomb at the group, then moving in for the kill.

(1 of 2) Use Eagle Vision to highlight which guard has the key to the Governor’s office.

Investigate Muhammad’s Office

With the key in hand, go back up the stairs to the locked door that leads to Muhammad’s office. You can now open it and begin your investigation. Use Eagle Vision to highlight four objects of significance:

  • Resignation of Abu ’Abdallah
  • “Ocean, Desert, Cobra, Dove” poem
  • Letter from the Tahirids
  • A map on the table

Once you’ve interacted with all four of the objects above, Governor Muhammad will enter the office. He’s unfazed by your presence, and you soon learn more about his relationship with the Order of the Ancients. By the end of the cutscene Basim will have learned all there is to know from Muhammad, and there’s nothing more you can do in this part of the investigation. You need to flee the Shurta headquarters and report to Roshan.

(1 of 4) Inspect the map of Alamut on the table.
