Assassin's Creed Mirage

Al-Bahamut (Qabiha) - The Serpent’s Nest - Assassin’s Creed Mirage

By
Scott Peers

The Serpent’s Nest investigation in Assassin’s Creed Mirage marks the beginning of the end for Basim’s quest to eradicate all Order of the Ancients members from Baghdad. There’s only one Order member remaining, known as Al-Bahamut, or more commonly as Qabiha. To find her, you’ll need to infiltrate the Palace of the Green Dome, located in the center of the Round City in Baghdad. On this page, we’ll show you how to get into the palace, where to find Qabiha’s hidden chamber, and how to solve the lost book puzzle in the Palace of the Green Dome.

Infiltrate the Palace of the Green Dome

To get inside the Palace of the Green Dome, you should start by going to the main entrance at the southwest side of the outer wall. Here you’ll find some rebel fighters trying to get in, but they won’t be able to unless you can open the gates from the other side. Turn left (heading north) from the group of rebels, and follow the wall around until you see a crack in it. You can slide through this crack to get beyond the outer wall, then turn right and make your way southeast toward the gates where the rebels were, assassinating any guards along the way.

Once you reach the gates, kill any guards that might be able to see you in the area, then hit the wooden beam using a melee weapon or your throwing knives. With the beam broken, you can open the gates and let the rebels in. The rebels will immediately begin to attack all of the guards on the palace grounds, making it easier for you to sneak by. Alternatively, you can help them kill all the guards as they go.

(1 of 4) You can enter the palace grounds via the crack in the wall.

Whatever you choose to do, when all the guards in the courtyard are dead, you can make your way to the northeast side of the inner palace walls, where a small building housing the Caliph’s harem is located. Here you’ll find a group of guards that you can kill quickly by throwing a smoke bomb and assassinating them. Alternatively, you can use the nearby musician to distract them. You can then go inside and speak with a marked eunuch, who can be found sitting on the ground. He’ll lead you to a nearby door which he’ll open, giving you access to the central part of the palace.

Where to Find Qabiha’s Hiding Place

The central part of the palace is directly beneath the dome, and there are a few more guards in here to be dealt with. You can take them out quietly, or go to the main doors to let the rebel fighters in. Either way, your main objective at this point is to find Qabiha’s hiding place. You need to get the Caliphal Palace Baths Key for this, which can be found on one of the guards in the area. Use Eagle Vision to highlight which guard has the key, then take it by force.

With the key in hand, you can now go up the steps to reach the higher levels of the dome. Go to the northern side up here to find the locked door that leads to the baths and open it using the key. Once inside, you’ll find Qabiha’s office. You can take some time to loot the area, but the main thing you need to do here is pick up the book placed on a stool at the eastern side of the room. You can use Eagle Vision to highlight it if necessary.

Lost Book Puzzle in Qabiha’s Chamber - Palace of the Green Dome

The hidden chamber that you need to find can only be accessed by completing a puzzle involving the book that you just picked up. As you head up the stairs to the right of the stool where you found the book, you’ll find four pedestals on which you can place any book. You’ll also get the option to recite Arib’s poem contained within the book when you interact with a pedestal. At this stage in the story, you’ll already have access to all of the books that you need, referred to here simply as the blue, yellow, black, and white books.

Symbols for Blue, Yellow, Black, and White Books

In the table below we’ve linked each book with their corresponding symbol, which can be found on the wall opposite the pedestals.

Book Symbol
Blue book Wave
Yellow book Sand
Black book Cobra
White book Dove

The clue that hints at the correct order for placing the books is related to the poem that you can recite, which goes as follows: “Rage as the ocean, I’ll sweeten your storms. Scorch the desert, I’ll bathe in your heat. Strike as the cobra, but plunge in my breast. Soar as the dove, but alight in my nest.”

If you look at the wall just above the archways opposite each pedestal, you’ll see various symbols. The blue book should be placed on the pedestal that is opposite the symbol for a wave, the yellow book should be placed on the pedestal opposite the symbol for sand dunes, the black book should be placed on the pedestal opposite the symbol for a cobra snake, and the white book should be placed on the pedestal opposite the symbol for a dove.

(1 of 4) You can see the symbol for waves (blue book) highlighted here.

The symbols on the walls aren’t the most clearly depicted images, so if you still need help with placing the books on the correct pedestal, see the screenshots above for a visual aid. After placing all the books on the correct pedestals, a brief cutscene will play during which Basim descends into the hidden chamber. All you need to do from here is walk through a door to begin a much longer cutscene, during which Qabiha appears.

At this late stage in the story, Basim is initially ready to assassinate Qabiha, but she’s able to convince him that she’s more useful to him alive. That is until Basim’s master, Roshan, kills Qabiha for him. Basim isn’t happy about this, and the scene ends with Roshan threatening Basim if he goes looking for answers beneath Alamut.
