Assassin's Creed Mirage

Beneath Alamut - Defeat Roshan - Assassin’s Creed Mirage

By
Scott Peers

The final stage of Basim’s story in Assassin’s Creed Mirage brings him back to the place where he first began training as a Hidden One assassin - Alamut. The meeting with Qabiha, head of the Order of the Ancients, revealed to Basim that there’s something of great significance hidden beneath Alamut, and exploring it is likely to yield answers to many of the questions he has about his own identity. To get there, though, he’ll have to fight Roshan, his once-beloved master. On this page, we’ll take you through how to get to the hidden Isu chamber beneath Alamut and provide a few tips for how to defeat Roshan.

The Last Journey - Meet Nehal at the Hideout in Anbar

The first thing on Basim’s mind after being threatened by Roshan is to speak with his longest and most trusted friend, Nehal. He knows that he can find her at the hideout in Anbar, located northwest of Baghdad. The easiest way for you to get there is by fast traveling using the world map. Once you’re in Anbar, just follow the quest marker to the hideout and enter it to begin a cutscene with Nehal.

The scene at the hideout will see Basim explain to Nehal why he has to go beneath Alamut, and she will insist on going with him. It’s a relatively brief scene that leads to a longer cutscene during which Basim and Nehal travel to Alamut, arriving exhausted, only to be ambushed by guards. Thankfully Basim’s fellow Hidden One, Nur, is able to rescue him, but at the cost of his own life.

In Pursuit of the Truth - Hurry Back to the Camp

After the scene with Nur in the cave, Basim will need to rush to the Hidden One camp at Alamut to help any remaining members of the brotherhood before they’re killed. You can mount the nearby horse and ride through the valley, but eventually, you’ll see the camp burning up ahead. It’s best to dismount here and sneak your way toward it, ready to assassinate any guards that you come across.

It’s difficult to stay hidden in the camp since there are so many guards and so few places to hide, so you’ll need to face them in open combat soon enough. Be sure to use your toolkit to finish them off quickly, including smoke bombs to disorient groups of enemies before moving in for the kill. There are a lot of guards to get through here, so you’ll probably need to rely on dodging and parrying if you don’t want to waste all of your tools and ammunition.

Once you’ve defeated all of the guards, you can free Rayhan. You’ll find him tied up at the southern end of the camp, and a long cutscene will begin upon freeing him. In the scene, Basim convinces Rayhan that he must explore what lies beneath Alamut for the good of the Hidden Ones, as much as for his own personal interest. Rayhan agrees, giving Basim free passage to the temple beneath Alamut.

Go to the Temple Beneath Alamut

As the leader of the Hidden Ones, Rayhan speaks on behalf of all of the brotherhood. The only exception here is Roshan, who is more informed by her own creed which differs somewhat from that of the brotherhood as a whole. As you enter the temple, you’ll need to defeat a group of guards before interacting with the symbol on the wall on the northern side of the temple. This triggers a cutscene in which Roshan appears, determined to stop Basim from going any further.

Boss Fight - Roshan

The fight with Roshan essentially constitutes the only “boss fight” in the game, but it’s nothing like the boss fights we saw in AC Valhalla or Odyssey. Roshan doesn’t have many special moves, only the ability to dual-wield a sword and dagger. She is quite a bit faster than most enemies, but if you use just one throwing knife it will trigger a brief scene, at the end of which she’ll be on half of her total health points. From here, you can just dodge or parry most other attacks depending on the animation, and retaliate with a few swift strikes of your own.

Roshan’s health will deplete quickly with each hit, so it won’t be long before she’s down. Another scene will begin at this point, leading to the end sequence of the game. This is an extensive series of cutscenes that reveals various aspects of the story that are as yet untold, potentially leaving you with many questions about what it all means.
