Assassin's Creed Mirage

How to Find the Poet Arib - Mouse Symbol Locations in AC Mirage

By
Scott Peers

Now that you’ve killed most of the Order of the Ancients members operating in Baghdad, you can finally begin your search for the head of the order. This process can be started in three different ways: by searching for the poet Arib, by finding Qahiba, or by finding Muhammad. We’ll start with the poet Arib, who is a mysterious figure with potential connections to the Order. To discover the truth, Basim will need to speak with her directly. On this page, we’ll show you where to find Arib at her home in the Round City of Baghdad, how to infiltrate the postal bureau to read some of the letters that have been sent to Arib, where to find Arib’s public recital, and how to find the mouse symbols on the walls in the streets of Baghdad.

The Fox and the Hunter - Find Arib

The first thing you should do to find Arib in Baghdad is visit Fuladh, who may have more information to share. He can be found in his usual place at the Harbiyah Bureau. After speaking with him, you’ll know a bit more about Arib, Qabiha, and Governor Muhammad, but not enough to give you a clear path to each. We’ll start by looking for Arib in the southwestern part of the Round City, as shown in the screenshot below. The area will be marked on your map after speaking with Fuladh, but you’ll need to use your bird to scout the specific house where she can be found.

Once you’re outside the house where Arib is located, go to the door and interact with it to listen in on the conversation. You’ll hear Arib arguing with one of her patrons before Basim knocks on the door to announce himself. The patron answers, and Basim attempts to sweet-talk his way into an audience with Arib. Unfortunately for him, the patron has seen this performance a thousand times.

The patron quickly dismisses Basim, thinking that he’s a member of the Order of the Ancients, who in his view are a corrupting influence on Arib. He mentions that he returned all of the letters that the Order has been sending to Arib back to the postal bureau. Your next move is clear: infiltrate the postal bureau and discover what information the letters can reveal.

Infiltrate the Postal Bureau - Where to Find Arib’s Letters

The postal bureau in Baghdad is located in the Administrative District, which is in the northwestern part of the Round City. You can see the exact location in the screenshot below. Make your way there and scout the area with your bird when you arrive. You can also use Eagle Vision to highlight the location of numerous guards throughout the building complex. You’ll need to assassinate these quietly if you want an easy entrance. If one of them sets off the alarm, the entire unit will begin hunting you.

The majority of the guards outside are stationed on the balconies, so you’ll be able to see them clearly as you climb around the building. You can creep up to unsuspecting guards and take them out by throwing them over the balcony. Try this on the eastern side of the building, then go through the door on the balcony and down the ladder to get inside. You can assassinate the guards one by one as you make your way down into the main postal room, where Arib’s letters are being kept.

There are four main letters that you can read for more information:

  • Threatening Letter
  • Admirer’s Letter
  • Strange Letter
  • Payment Overdue Letter

You’ll find all of these letters in the same room, and each one provides some useful information about how Arib is perceived by different people. The letter with the most relevant details is also the most cryptic: the strange letter. Read this to trigger the next phase in the mission, which will see you attending one of Arib’s recitals in Baghdad.

Attend Arib’s Recital in Baghdad

The area where Arib is engaging in one of her recitals is located just south of the postal bureau. You can get there easily on foot. When you arrive, sit on the bench at the front of the crowd to begin a cutscene, during which Arib notices you. She’ll ask you to speak with her in private, giving you an opportunity to present her with one of the letters you found. It doesn’t take long for her controlling patron to arrive, alongside three guards. If you want to get out of this, you’ll have to fight your way out.

The guards that you’re facing here are nothing special. They’re just regular soldiers who you should be able to defeat without any problems. Once they’re dead, you’ll find that Arib has disappeared. You need to follow the mouse symbols that are painted on the walls in the streets of Baghdad to find her again.

Where to Find the Mouse Symbols to Locate Arib

It’s not immediately obvious how or where you can detect these elusive mouse symbols on the walls. If you look closely, you’ll see the symbols painted on random wall surfaces in black. But, as ever, the easiest way to locate them is by using Eagle Vision, which will make them light up in bright orange. It should be easy enough to follow them, but there is a trick that hides one that you might miss, so we’ll take you through where to go in detail via the steps below.

Move the Donkey to Reveal the Mouse Symbol

The first move you should make is to head west from where you fought the guards. Take the first left heading south, then turn right (west) again. You’ll soon see another mouse on the wall ahead, at which point you can turn right (north) and head into the main square. You might feel a bit lost here since there are no obvious mouse symbols anywhere to be seen. Instead, if you use Eagle Vision, you’ll see that a nearby donkey is highlighted in bright orange. You need to go to this donkey and interact with it to reveal the next mouse symbol.

After revealing the mouse symbol behind the donkey, you can continue westward, following the next mouse symbol just ahead on the wall to your left. Keep going west until you reach a crossroads, then turn left (south) and look for the next mouse symbol inside a building, hidden behind two sheets of fabric which are hanging over the doorway, as seen in the screenshot below. Once you move beyond this last mouse symbol, you’ll hear Arib say “Follow the mouse. Really?”, confirming that you’re in the right place.

Now that you’ve found Arib again, look to the marked window and interact with it to listen in on the conversation that Arib is having with a woman named Sara. Basim learns that Arib has no association with the Order anymore, though its leader still admires her work. With that, you’ve learned all there is to know here, and you can move on to the next case.
