The House of Wisdom is a place you can find in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, in the Abbasiyah Region. It is on the western side of the region and is also the home to the NPC that collects your Lost Books. This can be a tricky Gear Chest, as you need a key for it, and the NPC with the key isn’t in the immediate area, so you may not even stumble across them. This page will detail how to get the Gear Chest at the House of Wisdom, including how to find the key.
How to Get the House of Wisdom Gear Chest¶
There are a few hoops you need to jump through to get to this Gear Chest. It is found in a tower at the northern end of the House of Wisdom, and as you might have guessed, the area is restricted up there. On the northern side of the main building, you should find some scaffolding you can use to get to the rooftop area. The chest will be inside that tower near the top, but the door is locked and you’ll need to find a key to open it. The key isn’t even on a guard, either, as it will be on a random NPC.
Finding the NPC with the key can be tricky, as it won’t be marked on your map. Looking at your map, you should see three Historical Sites at the House of Wisdom. Locate the one in between the other two and head for that marker, but stick to the rooftops, if you can. The NPC is still in the restricted area and there are plenty of guards around the spot, so be careful you aren’t spotted, assuming you’re sticking to stealth. You’ll know it’s the correct NPC, as they will have a key icon over their head.
Pickpocket the key (you might need to maneuver a little bit to get the prompt), then return to the location of the Gear Chest. Open that locked door and go inside the room, but you won’t find the chest in here. It’s actually in another room above this one, although you will need to do one more thing to access it. If you look at the ceiling here, you should see a weakened portion, which means you need to get something explosive to hit it. Exit the room altogether and climb to the balcony above the chest.
Look for the window with openings on it and use Eagle Vision to highlight the chandelier inside, or rather, the link holding it to the ceiling. You will be throwing a knife at the link, which will drop it to the ground, hitting the explosive jars there. An explosion will occur and that weakened floor will now be open, so you can climb up into that upper room, where you will finally be able to get the Gear Chest. This one will contain the Abbasid Knight Sword, or one of its Upgrade Schematics.
