Monster Hunter Rise

Blacksmith

By
Shane Williams

The Blacksmith is where you go to craft up powerful weapons and fancy looking armor for your Hunter.

Overlook of the Blacksmith

How does the Smithy work?

When you first take a look at the Smithy during early game, you’ll notice there isn’t many options and most of the screen is covered with a “?“. As you progress through the Village/Hub Quests and defeat different monsters, more trees will open up. For example, killing Aknosom will give you access to that tree.

However, the large “?“ will open up more as you progress through the game and collect new materials on your hunts. You can also acquire new materials by sending out your buddies on Trade Requests via the Argosy.

Buddy Smithy

Kisaki who works beside Hamon is in charge of crafting all your buddy equipment. This can be crafted with “Scrap” which is acquired from the leftovers of the materials used to craft your Hunter Armor. So if you craft the full Barroth set for your hunter, you’ll be able to craft the same set for your buddies.

Upgrading

Once you’ve been using a set for a while, you’ll eventually need to upgrade it in order to take on the tougher monster in the later Village Quests. To do this you’ll need Armor Spheres which are acquired from completing subsquests. Low-Rank you can mostly just upgrade the armor you like and be ok, but once you dive into High-Rank, you’ll want to start thinking about builds to handle the difficult encounters.

As for weapons, you’ll want to find the weapon type you like and work on crafting one of each element, so you can take a weapon with the element that the particular monster is weak too. However, if you decide you don’t like a weapon you’ve created, don’t worry, as you can click “rollback” which will take you previous weapon in that tree and return your materials.

Ramp-Up

Another method of upgrading in Monster Hunter Rise is by adding Rampage Skills to your weapons. To do this, complete a Rampage Quest and you’ll be given a Defender Ticket which can be given to Hamon for unique skills. Below you’ll find a list of the available Rampage Skills:
