Commendations are bonus rewards from certain Low Rank quests where you’re asked to hunt multiple monsters. They’re required to upgrade Sinister weapons etc.

How to Get Commendation¶
Commendations are exclusively obtained at the end of Low Rank quests where your mission is to hunt two or more monsters.
In such quests, the health of each target monster is greatly reduced (compared to quests where you must hunt a single monster). So you don’t have to spend much more time than usual.

If efficiency is your main priority, we suggest attempting the Village Quests, since the monsters in Hub Quests have more HP. Since you can’t repeat Special License Tests, you’ll have to farm the other three quests.
Alternatively, if you don’t need many Commendations (all equipments only require 1) and want to have more fun, go ahead and try the Hub Quests with friends or other hunters.

Commendations are required to upgrade a variety of weapons–most notably the 2nd tier of Sinister weapons.
