The default order to play in is Terra, Ventus, then Aqua and the guide will cover their stories in that order. The guide is written for the Critical difficulty mode so all strategies are based on that. If at any time you feel that the enemy is too difficult for you, take some time to level your character and his/her abilities to make the fight easier.

After the game’s opening scenes you take control of Ventus. Run to the next area and attack the ring with X. Next you use a command with triangle and then lock on to a ring with L and R. Jump to the treasure chest and open it with X. Head up and out of the area for a scene. Next you take control of Terra, block Ventus’ attack with square. Attack Ventus to build your Command Gauge and use a Finish. With Aqua use a Shotlock with L and R held down. After that choose a character to fight with and defeat your opponent. Move to the save menu and save if you want. Afterwards you are brought to the character selection screen and the end of the tutorial.

Terras Story

The game will explain the basics of attacking and the different commands. Defeating enemies nets you gold or other prizes (left). D-Links (right) are very useful for turning a battle in your favor.

After completing the tutorial and choosing Terra you are taken to the day he seeks his Mark of Mastery. The task is to defeat the Orbs of Light, fast moving balls that will emit light if left alone for too long. You can basically hack and slash through this using your abilities as you see fit. If the Orbs of Light ever get too far away simply use Terra’s Shotlock to close the distance and destroy a few.

After the battle and a few cutscenes you will be taken to the World Map – the Keyblade Board (Land of Departure) will be unlocked in the Command Board. When you are ready head over to the Enchanted Dominion.

Enchanted Dominion

Waking the Sleeping Beauty

After the scene you are locked in battle against a swarm of Unversed. In order to progress you must defeat them all. The only things you need to worry about are the Bruisers and their shockwave attack. If you get low on health simply use a D-Link to heal and finish the fight. Afterwards search the area for two chests containing a Potion and Pulsing Crystal. Make your way to the Forest Clearing and open the chest for Blizzard then grab the Balloon Sticker nearby and save if necessary.

Continue to the Bridge where another scene ensues. Make sure to equip the Blizzard Command you just acquired and press on towards more Unversed. Defeat them and continue to the Audience Chamber. There are three chests in this room containing Zero Gravity, Potion , and an Ether . The Huey Sticker in the middle of the room cannot be obtained yet. Be sure to equip the Zero Gravity as soon as you get it so that it is gaining CP. After the Unversed are defeated go up the steps in to the Hallway. Loot the chest up the stairs for an Ether and continue down the hall to Aurora’s Chamber. Examine the door to enter and start a cutscene.

Open the chest for the Enchanted Dominion Map and check the Command Shop, purchasing what you need. Poison is a decent pick up since early stage bosses can take poison damage. Head to the Tower Room through the fireplace and grab the Attack Recipe and Sleep from the chests and the Flying Balloon Sticker sitting in the open. As you make your way back to the Audience Chamber you will encounter the first real boss of Terra’s Story.

BOSS - Wheel Master

The Wheel Master is limited on his attacks but they can be devastating if you aren’t watching out for them. Time the vertical leaps and you can get off a few hits as it lands by jumping and swinging. The Wheel Master will occasionally whiz around the area so simply lock on and block the attack to leave it open for a few attacks. Strike Raid and Shotlock are great for long-range attacking when the Wheel Master jumps far away. If your health begins to dwindle, use a D-Link, preferably Aqua, to heal yourself. Aqua’s D-Link has the Cure command for further back up.

You will need to dodge Wheel Master’s attacks (left) as it has some strong ones. With little HP left, it goes into a frenzy (right) so you will need to guard against that.

After the cutscene you are returned to the World Map. Three new areas open up when you complete the Enchanted Dominion. The Mirage Arena has side missions and co-operative play providing a great way to gain experience early in the game. It is recommended that you play the Keyblade Board on the Command Board mini-game in order to obtain the Shotlock, Ragnarok. It is much stronger than Terra’s default Shotlock. Ragnarok is in the top left corner of the left side blocks. Return to the Land of Departure and find four chests containing Hi-Potion, Pulsing Crystal, Soothing Crystal , and Stop then head to the Castle of Dreams.

Unversed Mission - Flaming Box

Location : Waterside

Reward : Firaga

1 Star : 0-14

2 Star : 15-29

3 Star : 30+

New to the Final Mix are Unversed Missions. These appear once you’ve cleared a world. Head to the Waterside, the first area Terra lands in, to find the mark of the Unversed. Start the challenge where a Flaming Box launches fireballs into the sky. You must break them before they hit the ground. This is best done with simple Keyblade strikes on single targets and Magnet/Zero Gravity on larger groups. The longer you go, the more fireballs will get launched simultaneously.

Kingdom Hearts II begins where Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days leave off. Sora and his companions have been asleep for about a year, regaining their memories. When Sora awakens, he eventually arrives in Twilight Town, the place where a mysterious boy, Roxas, lived before he suddenly left. Gaining new clothes and powers, Sora began his journey anew, unaware of the events that have taken place in Chain of Memories. Sora continues his quest by unlocking paths to new worlds, learning of Nobodies and fighting the Heartless, as well as facing the remaining members of the mysterious Organization XIII. As the game progresses, Sora learns about Roxas and how much they have in common.

Birth By Sleep is the origins of the series’ hero and villain, Sora and Xehanort, and delves deep into the mysteries of Xehanort’s bleak past and forgotten memories as well as how Sora and Riku came to wield the Keyblade in the first place. It deals with three Keyblade Wielders: Terra, Aqua and Ventus and each character has their own scenario.

Kingdom Hearts II and Birth by Sleep will take you to many places and we have them all covered here. Inside you will find:

  • Complete walkthrough coverage for both Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth By Sleep.
  • Side quests covered in detail from Absent Silhouettes to Atlantica.
