Ancient Battlefield Monster Extermination is a request on Chapter 4 Day 3.

How to Start Ancient Battlefield Monster Extermination¶

Ancient Battlefield Monster Extermination is a request that you can begin by examining the computer in the SSS HQ at the start of Chapter 4 Day 3, the final day of the Chapter. Unlike the Blue Pill Investigation Request, this one is entirely optional so it’s a good idea to focus on clearing it (and the other Requests) earlier in the day as once you pass through the door at the end of the Revache & Co. dungeon, you will be locked out of requests.

As with most Monster Extermination Requests, there’s no client that you’ll need to speak to first before you can fight the target so once you have it from the computer, it’s time to set out for the Ancient Battlefield via Crossbell’s eastern exit.

Head to the last area of the Ancient Battlefield to find the target.

How to Complete Ancient Battlefield Monster Extermination¶

To reach the Ancient Battlefield, take the bus from East Crossbell Highway to Armorica Village and then exit back to Old Armorica Road and head east to reach the Ancient Battlefield. Once there, proceed along the upper path to the next area, go through the opened gate and into the next area, from here, go to the northwest to find the Dark Legend.

Before you go into the battle, make sure you have protection against K.O, you should have two Grail Lockets equipped and the other character can use a Holy Locket. For the other, if you don’t have an accessory, move them to the back. You’ll also want access to high-level Wind-based Arts such as Thunder Cyclone if you can.

The Dark Legends will either be the toughest or easiest encounter out of the three monster extermination requests today, especially if you’re lacking on that protection. The main reason for this is they will often use Deadly Scythe, this attack hits an AoE and deals around 500-600 HP but more crucially, will inflict K.O. to anyone who doesn’t have protection.

Outside of that, the Dark Legends aren’t too much of a bother so if you have the protection mentioned above, you should make short work of these. They are weak to Wind, so Thunder Cyclone and other like-minded Wind Arts will deal heavy damage to them. As always, S-Breaks from Lloyd and Randy will put a heavy dent into their HP too.

Your reward for victory is the Craft Book - Sun, this will unlock Haken Storm for Randy and Tio. You’ll also unlock the Your Time in the Sun Achievement/Trophy.
