How to Earn Mira by Fishing for Rainbow Trout

By
Nathan Garvin

On this page you’ll find details about fishing for Rainbow Trout at the Mainz Abandoned Mine and selling the Sepith you earn in The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero.

Exchanging Sepirth for Mira

The best way to earn mira in Trails from Zero is by selling Sepith, this much isn’t in much dispute, and the best place to sell Sepith is at the IBC, which is north of the Harbor District. You’ll gain access to this service after completing the request Assistance With New Service very early in the game. Their rates are as follows:

Sepith Mira
Earth Sepith 21
Water Sepith 21
Fire Sepith 21
Wind Sepith 21
Time Sepith 32
Space Sepith 32
Mirage Sepith 32

Perhaps not the most encouraging amounts of mira per Sepith at a glance, but keep in mind you’ll gain at least ten Sepith per monster defeated, and potentially a few dozen for stronger foes. At this rate, every monster you kill will effectively earn you hundreds of mira, but battles take time. If you’re incredibly overpowered compared to the enemy, you’ll be able to kill them outright by attacking on the field, which will earn you a random amount of Sepith (far lower than what you’d get from a conventional battle). Less lucrative, but quicker.

Killing [Shadow Beasts] in Stargazer Tower are a good midgame source of Sepith, and hence, mira - each one of these monsters will net you just over 1,000 mira. All in all, it’s a fine return. But there’s arguably a better source of mira out there, if you don’t mind doing some fishing.

(1 of 3) You’ll score the Bamboo Rod during the urgent request “Missing Doctor”,

Fishing for Rainbow Trout

When you catch a fish you’ll earn a reward based on the fish’s (randomly determined) size. Oftentimes this reward is Sepith, and in the case of the Rainbow Trout you’ll earn All Sepith x5 - x50, which will sell for 900 - 9000 Sepith, although the average is closer to All Sepith x10 (around 1800 Mira per fish, not including the cost of bait). These fish are relatively easy to catch and you can haul them in pretty quickly with a modicum of attention and effort.

To fish for Rainbow Trout you’ll need to meet some condition:

  • You need to obtain the Bamboo Rod, which can use Deluxe Dumplings - one of the few baits that Rainbow Trout fancy. You’ll automatically acquire the Bamboo Rod during the urgent request Missing Doctor on Chapter 3, Day 1.

  • You need to catch 16 different types of fish total, which will allow you to reach the rank of 1st Class Fisher with the Fishing Guild. After this you’ll be able to buy Deluxe Dumplings from the Fishing Guild for 100 mira each. Check out the How to Catch All Fish page for more details on how to do this.

  • You must complete the request Mine Monster Cleanup on Chapter 3, Day 2. This will give you access to the Mainz Abandoned Mine and the fishing spot therein.

Meet all those conditions and you’ll be able to hit the fishing spot in the Mainz Abandoned Mine, which only has two types of fish in it, the Gold Salmon and the Rainbow Trout. The Gold Salmon hungers for Deluxe Dumplings but it can only play spoiler once, as it will not respawn after it has been caught. This means that you will catch Rainbow Trout 100% of the time when you’re fishing here with Deluxe Dumplings. Just rake in dozens of fish, then sell the excess Sepith to the IBC for boatloads of mira!
