Hunters' Blind

This sidequest will automatically start after finishing the Hunting for the Lodge errand. It seems that Talanah has accepted a contract to help out a village that’s been under constant attack from machines. Speak with her, then she’ll run out of the lodge, stopping next to some woman. Talk with Ilsadi and she’ll talk about how her village of Lone Light is constantly under attack from Glinthawks, and Ahsis rejected the contract because the price was too low.

Lone Light is to the northeast of Meridian, so take the northern exit out of town and follow the road as it goes east. At the split near the Thunderjaw site, head northeast and you’ll eventually arrive at the village. As soon as you enter, the Glinthawks will start attacking. If you’ve never encountered Glinthawks before, they are flying machines that favor freezing attacks. They generally stay in the air, so don’t bother with trying to pick at their components. They can either lob some frozen projectile that hits the ground, causing it to damage you should you enter that area, or do a swooping motion, either attacking physically or dropping a bunch of those same projectiles.

The first wave consists of three Glinthawks and it can be a little hectic, especially considering you need to be mindful of your surroundings so you don’t get stuck or trapped on objects. The Glinthawks are weak to fire, to the point that two fire arrows will generally cause them to start burning and make them fall to the ground for a few seconds, allowing you to smack them around with your spear or go for a critical hit. The second wave consists of two more Glinthawks and once you’ve downed them all, go ahead and speak with Talanah and Ilsadi.

Hit the Glinthawks with fire arrows to knock them to the ground (left), then you can finish them off with your spear (right).

The Glinthawks will keep coming, so you need to track down the source, with mention that they seem to be coming from up the river. Loot all of your kills, then go to the north end of the village to find a spot you can use to rappel down. From here, follow the river to the north to eventually run into two more Glinthawks. Kill them and you should notice that there are a lot of Snapmaw carcasses in the area. It’s time for detective Aloy again, so break out your Focus and look for the trail, leading to some climbing and the eventual meet-up with the culprits.

Vashad took out a loan and is having trouble paying it back, opting to hunt for some Snapmaw Hearts to repay the debt. Of course, that lead to the main problem with the Glinthawks, since they are scavengers. When faced with a choice, pick the “compromise” option to get the chance to grab the final Snapmaw Heart needed for Vashad. Unless you already have one or feel like fast-travelling back to Meridian where you can buy one, there are some Snapmaws down by the river to the east, along with some Broadheads. Target the Blaze Canisters on the backs of the Snapmaws with fire arrows for easy kills, loot a Heart and bring it back to the hunters. Talk to Talanah nearby, then head back to the Hunters Lodge to speak with Ahsis to finish the mission.
