Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Alde Dracare Boss Guide

By
Ben Chard

Just when you thought you were about to take down Dux Aldrich, a beast summoned from the Primal Lens, Alde Dracare, stands in your way. This is the final battle in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and as such, you’ll need to go all out if peace is to return to Allraan. This page will cover how to defeat both phases of this grueling encounter.

Alde Dracare is the final boss of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

Alde Dracare Phase One

As mentioned above, the battle against Alde Dracare takes place over two specific battles, which we’ll refer to as phases one and two. You’ll want to make sure you have plenty of methods of healing your party, as Alde Dracare can deal some heavy damage across the entire party often. The Imperial Elites in Gardhaven Castle drop all manner of Runeshards and they will give you a leg up in this battle, should you have the space in your inventory. You’ll also want to make sure everyone has their weapon strengthened to max and that you’re around Level 60+ as Alde Dracare is Level 61 for the first phase and 63 for the second.

On the Normal difficulty, Alde Dracare’s first phase has 7344 HP and an S rank shield, so you’re in for a long battle. You’ll want to make sure you have access to Runes that can buff your defense, fully heal the party, and increase your attack. Alde Dracare often attacks before your other characters unless you have fast characters, and the majority of his attacks will hit multiple party members at once.

Alde Dracare has a basic physical attack that hits for around 100+ HP and can hit any character. Breath of Twilight will strike a column with fire-based damage, dealing around 200 HP to each of them. Sacrificial Prisoner will cause Alde Dracare to select a character at random and trap them in a fiery cage that prevents you from using them. This will trigger a gimmick where you can attack it to release them, be sure to do this as soon as possible as Alde Dracare will absorb around 75 HP a round from the trapped character.

(1 of 3) Breath of Twilight will strike a column.

Finally, Alde Dracare can use Myriad Cleavers, this is yet another AoE that will see him fire multiple beams across the entire front row of your party, dealing around 150 HP to them all, be ready to heal following this.

The first battle against Alde Dracare isn’t too difficult if you at least have a way of healing the entire party at once, be it from consumables or using a Rune such as the Rune of Pure Water. Seeing as you’re required to have Nowa, Seign, and Marisa in the party for this dungeon, their Heroes Combo is very potent, especially if you have the Rune of Warrior’s Pinnacle on either Nowa or Seign to increase the damage further. We were able to use this every other turn for around 1100 HP. What’s more, it will all but shred the entire Shield of Alde Dracare in one turn, allowing you to hit for more damage in subsequent turns.

Alde Dracare Phase Two

Once you take it down, Alde Dracare will evolve into its true form, and the real final battle can truly begin. You’ll begin the battle with the same status as the last one ended with, so hopefully you’re HP is topped up and you have plenty of MP still. On the Normal difficulty, this version of Alde Dracare only has 4166 HP, but don’t take this for granted as this form has far deadlier attacks for you to deal with. Be sure to spend the first round healing, buffing, and restoring MP for any mages.

It usually starts the battle with Fires of the Apocalypse, a flashy attack that will see it fire a massive beam at the entire party, hitting them for around 230 HP (your tanks) to 300+ (any backliners). This is why it’s so important to top yourself up at the start of the battle so you can survive this opening salvo.

Shield of Abnegation will conjure a magical shield that grants it C rank armor and increases its defense to all damage, for this reason, switch to physical attacks while it’s active to avoid wasting MP. Meteor of Ruin is another attack similar to Fires of the Apocalypse that will strike the entire party for moderate damage while Breath of Vitality will allow it to recover around 400 HP. Myriad Cleavers II is a stronger version of the attack it used in the first phase, just dealing slightly more damage to the front row. Finally, Vortex of Catastrophe will deal heavy damage to one character and has the potential to remove around half of S rank armor.

(1 of 4) Now is the time to use Runeshards of Earth 5 if you have them.

As you can see, Alde Dracare’s second phase is a deadly one, and it can be very easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of damage it can output. You’ll almost certainly need someone on healing duty every round, be it using Holy Rain or Spirit Medicine (or the lesser tier of these items). If your designated healer is low on MP, be sure to have someone else use an item to restore it.

If you have the trio of Nowa, Seign, and Marisa, Heroes Combo remains as ever useful and will put a huge dent in Alde Dracare’s HP every time you use it. We also had Momo, using the Rune of Mage’s Pinnacle to deal heavy damage with even her regular attacks, since it scales with Magic Power and Alde Dracare is weak to Fire, so expect it to Critical Hit a lot more often.

There are no regular battles following this, and although you can load your game up following the ending to clean up anything else, you should feel free to make use of your best consumables here. Following Alde Dracare’s defeat, the bridge will collapse and Nowa will find himself face-to-face with Aldrich. Nowhere left to run, it’s time to put an end to this with a final duel against him.

A spiritual successor to the Suikoden series, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a classic JRPG that gives you the opportunity to recruit over 100 characters throughout your journey. Nowa, a boy from a small village, travels to the city to become a member of the Watch, only to be suckered into a plot to stop an empire from utilizing Rune-Lenses to expand their power and reach.
