Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Gaspin Manor Statues and Wisp Puzzle Solution

By
Nathan Garvin

Along the southeastern edge of the Hossberg Wetlands sits Gaspin Manor, a busy area with numerous chests and some side quests, including [An Academic Interest] and [Gate of Pale Reflections]. While these are all interesting enough, the location is also thick with puzzles, including a combination statue-and-wisp puzzle that you can complete to open the gate at Gaspin Manor to reach the swampy area to the south, Solitude’s Edge. Sure you can just go around, but it’s faster and more lucrative to solve this puzzle, and if you want to complete this area fully you’ll need to put your thinking cap on. This page will provide a solution for the puzzles at Gaspin Manor in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Page Breakdown

Finding Gaspin Manor

To reach Gaspin Manor you’ll want to head south from Grey Hold - where you’ll appear when zoning into Hossberg Wetlands at the northern end of the map. As long as you keep going south and sticking east whenever possible you should get there, and along the way you’ll pass through the village of Lavendel, the Blighted Tunnel, the Old Crossroads and then the Cavernous Tunnels. Note that if you go southwest at the Old Crossroads you’ll pass through a tunnel and reach the Blighted Grow, and southeast of here is Solitude’s End - an area south of the Gaspin Manor. So you don’t really need to solve this puzzle to get through the gate, separating Gaspin Manor from Solitude’s End, but there’s treasure to be had if you get the gate open.

(1 of 1) Gaspin Manor can be found along the southeastern end of the Hossberg Wetlands.

Solving the Gaspin Manor Statue and Wisp Puzzles

First things first, clear any enemies dwelling on the grounds of Gaspin Manor - if you haven’t completed [An Academic Interest] yet, you’ll be facing off against Venatori, otherwise you’ll likely encounter Shades. Either way, clean up, then note the crystals that are strewn all over the manor grounds… assuming, again, of course, you didn’t already complete Academic Interest. These quests aren’t part of the puzzle, but they can be annoying, so feel free to destroy them if you find them a bother - one crystal can be found within the manor itself and another is behind some wooden boards, downstairs along the northwestern wall.

Rotating Statues and Braziers

Once you’ve rid yourself of those nuisances, take stock of the area: there are tree rotatable statues, one along the northern corner of the grounds, another in the eastern corner, and a third along some stairs near the center of the grounds. You will also find three unlit braziers: one southeast of the statue near the stairs (it’s along a stone railing near a cliff), another is northwest of the easternmost statue, near some stairs that lead back up to the Cavernous Tunnels, and the third is southwest of the northernmost statue, on the upper floor of a ruined building.

Turn each of the three statues to face one of the braziers and the brazier will light up, as follows:

Rotating Statues and Braziers Solutions

Statue Correct Facing
North corner Southwest
East corner Northwest
Central (near stairs) Southeast

(1 of 4) Destroy the crystals littering the manor grounds, just so they won’t be a nuisance.

Light up all three braziers and a door to a building on the southeastern edge of the manor grounds will open up - this building is just to the left of the stairs leading up into the manor itself (southeast from the sphinx statues next to the stairs). This leads to the wisp portion of the puzzle.

Wisp and Gate

Inside the building southeast of the stairs leading up to the manor you’ll find a chest and a wisp. Before you lure the wisp to you by approaching it, however, it’s best to learn its destination. Make your way to the southwestern end of this area to find a gated doorway. This is just northwest of a smaller, less grand set of stairs leading up to the manor. It’s also worth noting that next to this gate is a boarded up doorway through which is a large chest and the Ring of the Warden Royal Memento. Anywho, while it can be hard to see, there’s a skeleton next to a lever just through the gate, so run back to the building southeast of the sphinx stairs, approach the wisp so it follows you, then run back to the gate. The wisp should possess the skeleton for you and pull the lever, open the gate and the way to Solitude’s End.

(1 of 4) Once all three braziers are lit, the door to a building near the manor will open.

With the gate now opened, you can busy yourself with other nearby tasks, like completing [An Academic Interest] and looting Gaspin Manor!
