All Bladewing Moth Trail Locations - Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

By
Scott Peers

There are eleven Bladewing Moth Trails in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, with four in the Kinglor Forest region, five in the Upper Plains, and two in the Clouded Forest. Each trail requires you to chase an eclipse of moths (yes, that’s the wonderful collective noun for them!) to a specific destination that will be the same each time, regardless of whether you succeed on your first run or not. This will allow you to perfect each route without having to worry about it changing, and at the end of the trail you’ll be rewarded with an Exquisite Hidden Fruit.

The Bladewing Moth Trails always begin at their cocoons, like the one in this image.

How to Complete Bladewing Moth Trails

To successfully complete a Bladewing Moth Trail, all you need to do is follow the moths to a specific destination. You’ll see a message indicating that the trail is complete when you arrive, and although you don’t need to loot the Exquisite Hidden Fruit that the moths lead you to, you might as well. There are a couple of things to note about how the moths behave, however. The first thing you should keep in mind is that they generally fly slower than you can run (at least while you’re sprinting), so you need to adjust your pace as you follow them.

The second thing to note about the moths is that they’ll stop moving if you don’t follow their trail. This means that if you follow them from some distance to the left or right of them, they’ll stop. If you keep doing this they’ll reset, and you will need to go back to the start of the trail. If you fall behind at any point, the moths will wait briefly for you, but only for about five seconds before they disappear. With that said, let’s get into the locations for each trail!

Kinglor Forest Bladewing Moth Trails

There are four Bladewing Moth Trails to be found in Kinglor Forest, with one in the Waterway Valley sub-region, two on or near Droplet Islands, and one in Gossamer Lakes.

Moth Trail 1 – Waterway Valley

The first Bladewing Moth trail that we’ll cover can be found in the Waterway Valley, which is located in the far southeast of Kinglor Forest. The trail begins on an island at the northern tip of the swamp here, as shown in the screenshot below, and it ends just a bit to the southeast of the starting point. This is a fairly simple route so you should be able to keep track of the moths easily.

Moth Trail 2 – Silk Woods – Droplet Islands

The next trail can be found in the Silk Woods region of Kinglor Forest. More specifically, look for the Droplet Islands on your map, to the southwest of Hometree, or just northwest of the River’s Run Na’vi camp. This trail will take you westwards across the tree trunk, then up some rock formations. Avoid using the ropes which can be tempting to climb, as these will only slow you down and potentially cause you to lose the moths.

Moth Trail 3 – Silk Woods – Northwest of Droplet Islands

This next one is also technically within the Silk Woods region, although it’s more between Silk Woods and Gossamer Lakes. You’ll find it just northwest of the last one at Droplet Islands, as shown in the screenshot below. The trail takes you up the cliffs to the south, and you’ll need to be fast to keep up with the moths.

Moth Trail 4 – Gossamer Lakes – Northeast of Oil Extractor Bravo

The last Bladewing Moth Trail in Kinglor Forest is within Gossamer Lakes, in the far northwestern part of the region. You’ll find it just northeast of the Oil Extractor Bravo RDA outpost, but you don’t need to complete the outpost before you can do the trail. This trail is slightly more difficult than the others, mostly because you need to jump between some rock surfaces while avoiding the rapids of a fast-flowing river. If you miss one of the rocks, you can easily fall down the waterfall below.

If you need a bit more help with this trail, see the video below.

It’s important that you take your time with this one. You need to follow the path of the moths as they move to the rocks on the western side of the river. If you try to stick to the rocks on the eastern side, they will de-spawn. You should also keep in mind that you’ll need to use a charged jump to reach most of the rocks without falling into the river, so be sure to hold down the jump key/button. Once you’re on the other side, keep following the moths to the hidden fruit, which is just a short distance to the northeast.

Upper Plains Bladewing Moth Trails

There are five Bladewing Moth Trails to be found in the Upper Plains region. You’ll find one in The Celebration Valley, one south of The Circle, one southeast of the Weeping Gorge, one at the edge of Stone Lake, and one east of Zakru’s Promise.

Moth Trail 5 - The Celebration Valley

The first Bladewing Moth Trail that we’ll cover in the Upper Plains region is in The Celebration Valley. If you look on the map, it’s just above “The” where the name for the sub-region begins. Looking closer, you’ll see that it’s just northwest of Celebration Arches, an enormous natural feature in the landscape. The moths here are actually a little bit faster than normal due to the powerful winds in the area, but you can use your Ikran to keep up if necessary. This is an easy trail as they head southeast from the cocoon.

Moth Trail 6 - South of The Circle

This Bladewing Moth Trail is easy to find since it’s directly south of The Circle, which is the main settlement of Na’vi in the Upper Plains region, and one of the first places that you visit when you arrive for the first time. You can see the exact location of the cocoon in the screenshot below, but it’s difficult to miss regardless of if you just head south along the river. This is another easy trail as the moths generally follow the river further south, but you need to jump down from some steep cliffs as you go.

Moth Trail 7 - Southeast of the Weeping Gorge

This Bladewing Moth Trail can be found in the far northeastern part of the Upper Plains, within the Shattered Bridge sub-region, just southeast of the Weeping Gorge. You can see the location from two different perspectives on the map in the screenshots below. As with most of the moth trails in the Upper Plains, you should find this one easily since the area is so open that it’s difficult to lose the moths. The only thing you need to look out for is a fairly large jump over a cliff edge along the way.

Moth Trail 8 - Stone Lake

The next Bladewing Moth Trail is in the far northwestern part of the Upper Plains, within The Stone Hold sub-region. More specifically, you’ll find it just on the edge of Stone Lake, on its eastern side, as shown in the screenshot below. Once again, you should find this easy to complete as you follow the moths southeast but do look out for some hostile wildlife along the way. You can just keep running and ignore them if you’re fast enough or use your Ikran (while staying close to the moths) to avoid them altogether.

Moth Trail 9 - East of Zakru’s Promise

The final Bladewing Moth Trail located in the Upper Plains region can be found just east of Zakru’s Promise, a small Na’vi camp that you come to as part of the main story just before the Combined Forces quest. The camp is technically located in the Step’s Cradle sub-region, but if you check the map, it’s quite a bit further north from the text. The cocoon itself is also a bit further to the north of its icon on the map, so you could have some trouble finding it unless you know where to look. You need to go just under the large rock formation here to get to it.

This trail will take you east initially, before turning north to climb a rockface using the rope. At the top, you’ll turn west to reach a point at the edge of the cliff where the trail ends and a breathtaking view awaits.

If you need more help with this one, you can check the video below!

Clouded Forest Bladewing Moth Trails

There are only two Bladewing Moth Trails in the Clouded Forest region, with one just south of the Resistance Hideout, and the other in the Great Stone Swamp, in the Stone Cloud Valley sub-region.

Moth Trail 10 - South of the Resistance Hideout

The first one we’ll cover in the Clouded Forest region can be found almost directly south of the Resistance Hideout, just southeast of the Hydro-Oil Extractor Bravo RDA outpost. This is technically in The Cut sub-region, as shown in the screenshot below. The trail is a little trickier than those you experienced in the Upper Plains, mostly because there’s a lot more foliage to navigate around in this region. Keep your eye on the moths as they head southeast through and up some rock formations!

Moth Trail 11 - Great Stone Swamp

The final Bladewing Moth Trail can be found in the northern part of the Great Stone Swamp, which is located in the Stone Cloud Valley sub-region, northwest of the Resistance Hideout. You’ll need your Ikran to reach this trail, but once you’re there it’s a fairly easy one as you head south along the enormous tree trunk. Just be ready to jump over the gaps when necessary and you should be fine.

Fleet-Footed Trophy

After completing all the Bladewing Moth Trails, you don’t get much in the form of a reward aside from the 11 Exquisite Hidden Fruits that are found at the end of each trail. However, you will unlock the Fleet-Footed trophy, so you’ll need to do this if you want to 100% the achievements.
