There are multiple types of collectibles to find in the Western Frontier, such as Bladewing Trails, Sarentu Totems, the Mycelium Network, and more! The Mycelium Network is also known as a Budding Watcher and can be found scattered around the second and third regions of the game, the Upper Plains and Clouded Forest. On this page, you’ll find the locations of all 10 Budding Watchers along with their rewards.
You’ll obtain some unique superior food from completing Budding Watchers.
How to Complete Budding Watchers¶
Once you’ve managed to locate a Budding Watcher you may be confused as to what you need to do in order to complete it. Your objective here is to get inside of the Budding Watchers which can be done by looking for small white mushrooms branching out from them in various directions. Follow the trail of white mushrooms and it’ll lead you to a smaller mushroom, and then interact with it and return to the Budding Watcher and follow a different trail. You’ll need to do this with four small mushrooms in total, you can then enter it to claim your reward.
We recommend that you complete all of the Budding Watchers, as the rewards they provide will be extremely useful for the remaining main story missions. Additionally, you’ll need to complete 10 Budding Watchers to obtain the Mushroom Navigator Trophy/Achievement, but there are only nine in the Western Frontier. If you complete all nine within one day, then you’ll need to wait a full 24 hours for them to refresh and then you can repeat any of previously completed Budding Watchers to finish it off.
Getting the Mycelium Network Trophy/Achievement¶
You’ll find the nine Budding Watchers scattered around the Clouded Forest and the Upper Plains, so we recommend that you progress through the story until you’ve got access to your Ikran in both regions before attempting to get these collectibles.
Cascading Stones Budding Watcher Location #1¶
The Cascading Stones Budding Watcher sits beside a waterfall in the northeast of the region. More specifically, northwest of the Cul-De-Sac Station Resistance Field Lab. You’ll obtain the Pheromonic Remedy Superior Food upon completion.

Cascading Stones Budding Watcher Location #2¶
The second Cascading Stones Budding Watcher can be found on top of The Grasping Mountain which can be found northeast of Giant’s Bane. Interacting with this basket will give you the Immunity Remedy Superior Food which allows you to attract wildlife to your location.

Crimson Great Wood Budding Watcher Location¶
The Crimson Great Wood Budding Watcher can be found to the south of the Resting Tree Lab Resistance Field Lab which is situated near The River’s Eye. Inside you’ll be able to collect the Camouflaging Remedy Superior Food which makes you harder to detect in dusk, night, and dawn conditions.

Stone Cloud Valley Budding Watcher Location #1¶
The Stone Cloud Valley Budding Watcher can be found to the northeast of the Horseshoe Mountain Station Resistance Field Lab and completing this will also give you the Camouflaging Remedy Superior Food.

Stone Cloud Valley Budding Watcher #2¶
There is another Budding Watcher which can be found in the Stone Cloud Valley, and it is located slightly north of Giant’s Bane. This will reward you with the Favorable Remedy Superior Food which allows you to get 20% more favor from Na’vi Clans.

Cradling Pines Budding Watcher Location #1¶
The Cradling Pines Budding Watcher can be found sitting beside Carver’s River which is located southeast of Giant’s Bane. This basket will give you the Favorable Remedy Superior Food.

Cradling Pines Budding Watcher Location #2¶
The second Cradling Pines Budding Watcher can be found slightly southwest of the Drill Outpost Alpha RDA Outpost, and it’ll reward you with the Immunity Remedy Superior Food.

The Cut Budding Watcher Location #1¶
The Cut Budding Watcher can be found southeast of the Horseshoe Mountain Resistance Field Lab and interacting with the Potion Basket inside will give you the Silent Remedy Superior Food which makes your movement completely silent.

The Cut Budding Watcher Location #2¶
The second Budding Watcher in The Cut sub-region can be found sitting along the river to the southeast of the Gas Harvester Bravo RDA Outpost. Interacting with this basket will provide you with another Camouflaging Remedy Superior Food.
