Rock Orchid Cone Locations - Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Upon making it to the Clouded Forest in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, you will unlock a new type of material, the Cone. Most of the Cones can be found on various trees, but one of them is a little different, which is the Rock Orchid Cone. These are found inside rock-like leaves, but they are closed and only “rarely open” according to the Hunter’s Guide. This page will detail where to find the Rock Orchid Cones, including the Superior and Exquisite versions, as well as how to harvest them.

The Rock Orchid Cone is one type of cone you will find in the Clouded Forest.

Where to Find Rock Orchid Cones in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

It’s fairly easy to find Rock Orchid Cones, as they are commonly located in the Boulderlands biome of the Clouded Forest. If you’re using your Na’vi Sense, you simply need to be on the lookout for the large bulb-like plant on the ground while exploring that biome. However, when you first find these plants, they will be closed and it can be a bit confusing on how to open them so you can procure the cones inside.

How to Harvest the Rock Orchid Cones

As mentioned above, the Rock Orchid plants are closed upon first finding them and no matter what you do to them, they will not open. It can be quite confusing how to open the plants so you can get to the Rock Orchid Cones. There doesn’t seem a surefire way to open them, but one way that they do appear to open up is by getting close enough. After doing that, move away from the Rock Orchid plant and wait a little bit. If done like this, the plant should finally open up, revealing the fleshy interior, where you can harvest the Rock Orchid Cone.

When you do go to gather the cone, make sure you pull down on the left analog stick while pulling it from the plant. This ensures that the quality will be better and contributes more to the overall power of the crafted item. Additionally, you will want to make sure that you harvest it in dry conditions for even better quality.

What is the Rock Orchid Cone Used for in Avatar?

The Rock Orchid Cone is used in a variety of crafting recipes, like the Sarentu Headband, as an example of something specific. There are numerous recipes that ask for any cone and the Rock Orchid Cone is a great one to use, although you can pretty much use any of the cones, as they all have the same values for crafting.

(1 of 3) Head to the arches hanging over Ensnared Lake for the Superior/Exquisite versions.

Where to Find Superior/Exquisite Rock Orchid Cones?

If you’re looking for the rarer versions of the Rock Orchid Cone, then you will need to head to the Ensnared Lake, located in the northeastern portion of the Clouded Forest. This is a small lake that has some arches on top of it, which pretty much cover it (making it ensnared, hence the name). You want to go on top of those arches and just use your Na’vi Sense to search for the Rock Orchid plants. Pinning the item from your Hunter’s Guide makes it much easier to spot them, as it gives the plant a yellowish aura to it, instead of the usual.
