There are many different types of items you can harvest in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, some of which are used for crafting. One such item is the Canopy Root, an item that helps in crafting Heavy Bows. However, it can be a little challenging to find this item, especially if you stick to the ground, as it is found hanging from trees. This page will help you pinpoint the location of the Canopy Root, as well as how to harvest it.

Where to Find Canopy Root in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora¶
You will have to wait until you’ve progressed the main story a little bit before you can find this material. Once you start opening up the map after Becoming, you will be tasked with meeting the Aranahe Clan to the west. If you follow the waterways here to the west, then southwest, you will eventually run into The Threaded River, a body of water that is just south of the Hometree. This location is key to tracking down this item, as it will be found along it.
When looking at your map, pressing up on the directional pad will show the biomes. Using this knowledge, you specifically want the Wild Vines Biome on the southern side of the river. This will be directly south of the Eject Ancestor Skill, with the biome stretching to the west a little. What you’re looking for here are trees that you can get onto the upper branches of, where you can see some roots hanging off of those upper branches. If you use your Na’vi vision, you can see the outline of the root, so you know what you’re looking for up there.

Canopy Root Uses¶
You can use the Canopy Root to help construct Heavy Bows. It is one of the different kind of Roots you will find in the game. When it comes to crafting Heavy Bows, it will always require some form of Root, of which the rarity and type may change depending on the Design.
How to Harvest Canopy Root¶
For the best quality Canopy Root, there are two criteria in which you need to harvest it. If you forgot how this works, a lot of the items you can harvest you have to pull in a certain direction before you can pluck it from its spot. This holds true for the Canopy Root, as if you pull it in the wrong direction, it will ruin the quality of it. For pristine quality, you want to hold the analog stick in the up position. Additionally, make sure that the time is set during the Day when you harvest it.
Note that rarer versions of the Canopy Root are often found west of the Tangled Lake, behind the Woodsprite Arches in the north of the Kinglor Forest. The Woodsprite Arches is the large arch found just northwest of Hometree.
