Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

How to Change Class in Three Hopes

By
Vincent Lau

This page explains how to change a character’s class in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

Classes determine what weapons and abilities a character have, as well as providing additional abilities as you rank up the class.

Once you’ve mastered a class (by ranking up to 3-stars), it’s generally a good idea to change to a different class. You could change to a higher tier class to benefit from improved stats. Also, you could learn new abilities by ranking up different classes.

If you’ve settled on a favorite Master tier class and have all the abilities you want, then awesome!

How to Acquire a New Class

(1 of 3) When you want a career change, head to the Training Grounds.

To change to a different class, you first need to acquire it.

When you’re back at your base camp, head to the Training Grounds and speak to the Training Instructor. Select the third option, “Acquire Class”. From there, select the character you want to change class. The game will display the character’s class tree, where you can move the cursor to choose your desired class.

You will then need to consume the relevant “exam seal” item to obtain and change into that class. The type of exam seal depends on the class’s tier. Eg. an Intermediate tier class requires an Intermediate Seal.

How to Unlock Classes

(1 of 3) If you see this message, it means you need to master the class that’s above.

Depending on your character’s progression, you may find that some classes are locked. That’s when you need to study their class tree.

To acquire a particular class, you must master (rank up to 3-star) the class that’s above the class you want, in the class tree. If you want to unlock, say, a particular Master tier class (eg. Bow Knight), you will need to master the corresponding Beginner (Fighter), Intermediate (Archer) and Advanced (Sniper) tier classes.

How to Switch to an Obtained Class

Once you’ve obtained a class, if you want to switch back to it, simply open the main menu when at your base camp or the world map and select Convoy. Then choose a character and press Joy-Con-ZL or Joy-Con-ZR to switch to the “Change Class” tab.

This will bring up the character’s class tree, where you can change them to any class they’ve already earned. Keep in mind you cannot acquire new classes here; that’s what the Training Grounds are for!
