The Foothills¶
You’ll begin the Chapter in The Foothills, a large expanse that sits at the base of Mount Huaguo, and you’ll almost immediately be set upon by the Supreme Celestial Inspector as you follow the linear path at the start. If you fought the optional Supreme Inspector back in Chapter 4, you’ll know what to expect here when it comes to how the battle will play out.
More importantly, once you’ve dealt with the Supreme Celestial Inspector, you’ll obtain the Somersault Cloud transformation spell that works as the means of transformation throughout the Foothills. You can call the cloud at any time while out of combat and this will allow you to freely fly throughout the region. This can make it easy to get lost in such an expanse so make liberal use of your map as you navigate the main part of Chapter 6.
There are many bosses to tackle here at this point, many of which are admittedly optional, although you’ll want to take them out if you’re aiming to earn the Portraits Perfected Trophy/Achievement. We won’t go through all of them here, needless to say, you can find every boss in Chapter 6 by following our bosses guide here.
The goal, otherwise, is to fight four mandatory bosses (the last of which requires the first three to be defeated) to regain Sun Wukong’s armor set. You can do any of the first three in any order, and you’ll find them in the following locations:
(1 of 4) The Gold Armored Rhino will drop the body piece.
-
Gold Armored Rhino - Found to the northeast of the Foothills, defeating it will award you with the
Gold Suozi Armor
-
Cloudtreading Deer - Found to the far north of the Foothills, defeating it will award you with the
Lotus Silk Cloudtreaders
-
Feng-Tail General - Can be found leaping around the entire region. Land on its back and pass the
Stamina and health checks by holding on to the Antennae. Defeating it will award you with the
Golden Feng-Tail Crown
-
Emerald-Armed Mantis - Once the other three have been defeated, fly high and look to the south to spot some mist near a large tree. Once defeated, you’ll obtain the
Dian-Cui Loong-Soaring Bracers
Once you’ve successfully done this, you’re now ready to head to the game’s final encounters, although you may wish to consider tackling Black Myth: Wukong’s secret boss. We won’t ruin the surprise here for you, but if you wish to learn more, check out the Mount Mei Secret Area unlock guide.
Waterfall Curtain Cave¶
Once you feel you’re truly ready to take on the game’s final bosses and complete The Destined One’s journey, make your way to the Waterfall Curtain Cave, this is located on the southeast side of the Foothills. You’ll have to go on foot once you reach the area, so head up the slope to the left and leap over into the cave.
Follow the path forward and you’ll spot a massive Staff sticking out of the ground, make sure you have the four armor pieces from Sun Wukong’s set and approach it to trigger a scene and obtain the Jingubang. If you’re sticking with the armor set, be sure to equip this weapon to complete the set and get the set bonuses, then follow
Zhu Bajie along the linear path to the top of the mountain.
(1 of 2) Be sure to equip the Jingubang.
Be sure to equip the Jingubang. (left), You can then test it out on the hordes of enemies as you follow the trail. (right)
Along the way, you’ll need to deal with hordes of soldiers that look to put a stop to you, but these are nothing more than fodder for you to get to grips with your new weapon. There is a Keeper’s Shrine at the end of this trail, so feel free to use your resources as you’ll get them back at the top.
The Final Bosses¶
You’ll reach a Keeper’s Shrine just before you examine the stone near where Zhu Baijie is, once you head toward it, you’ll trigger a series of long scenes that culminate in the battle against The Stone Monkey. This is a difficult battle with two phases and, after you’re victorious, you’ll be thrown straight into the final battle against The Great Sage’s Broken Shell, which also has two phases. Fortunately, should you die here, you’ll respawn at a new Keeper’s Shrine where you can restart this battle, rather than The Stone Monkey.
The Stone Monkey is the first of two final bosses.
Enjoy the ending once you defeat the final boss and you’ll now have the ability to start a New Game+ that will allow you to carry over your data for a fresh playthrough!
