By
Ben Chard

Black Myth: Wukong has plenty of materials for you to discover, many of which are used in the crafting or Armor and Weapons. The majority of materials needed for armor works on a tier system, with each Chapter offering better ways of reaching the next tier. Keep reading to learn where you can find "Fine Gold Thread" iconFine Gold Thread and put it to use.

You can buy Fine Gold Thread in Black Myth: Wukong once you reach Chapter 4.

Where to Find Fine Gold Thread

As mentioned above, each Chapter in Black Myth: Wukong tends to have a material that’s associated with it, be it Yarn in Chapter 1 or Cold Iron Leaves in Chapter 3. It goes without saying, then, but you’ll want to make sure you reach at least Chapter 4 before going out of your way to farm Fine Gold Thread, even if there are a few instances of it in Chapter 3, such as from the Cyan Loong battle.

As a general rule, you’re going to need a lot of Fine Gold Thread from Chapter 4 onwards, as it’s needed for every Legendary tier piece of Armor, such as for the Golden set you unlock for beating "Yellowbrow" iconYellowbrow at the end of Chapter 3. You’ll also find some of the lesser armor can be upgraded to a higher tier Armor at the "Yin Tiger" iconYin Tiger in Zodiac Village, and this will often cost Fine Gold Thread too.

As always, there are various methods for obtaining Fine Gold Thread, and they are as follows:

  • Dropped from some bosses in Chapter 3

  • Dropped by some bosses in Chapter 4

  • Purchased from some Shrines in Chapter 4 onward

  • Found in chests scattered about in Chapter 4 onward

There are a few bosses in Chapter 3 that will drop Fine Gold Thread upon their defeat, and they are "Cyan Loong" iconCyan Loong, which is an optional difficult battle as part of the "Loong Scales" iconLoong Scales Quest. You’ll also get some Fine Gold Thread at the end of the Chapter as a reward for defeating Yellowbrow, this is ideal because you’ll want to craft some of that new armor set! Once you get into Chapter 4, you’ll find Fine Gold Thread drops a lot more often from such as from bosses like "Buddha's Right Hand" iconBuddha’s Right Hand. This is especially important as you will start needing larger quantities of the material in this Chapter to progress The Destined One and deal with the increasingly difficult threats.

As you should be aware of by now, Shrines in Black Myth: Wukong have their own inventory based on the Chapter and sometimes different areas within, save for a different shop for any “Secret” areas (of which there is one in Chapters 1, 2, 4, and 5). For the purpose of this guide, you’re looking for any Shrines that may be selling Fine Gold Thread, and in Chapter 4, which doesn’t leave you with much choice. You’ll be able to buy two Fine Gold Threads at 3000 "Will" iconWill a piece, which you will most likely already have on you, as soon as you reach the first Shrine of the Chapter.

Finally, Chests will be your primary source of Fine Gold Thread in Chapter 4, many of them will often include them or "Gold Tree Core" iconGold Tree Cores, a material needed for the current tier of weapons. For example, once you reach the Verdure Bridge in Chapter 4, you can head over the bridge and toward the doorway for a short scene, after which a room with many chests await. Beyond all of the other goodies you’ll get there, you’ll also find some Fine Gold Thread!
