There are numerous items scattered around the world in Black Myth: Wukong with the Celestial Pill being one of them. When you find one, it’ll permanently increase either your Health, Stamina, or Mana by a minor amount. Normally found inside a small gold container, these pills are well-hidden, and require some thorough exploring to find them. Read on to find out all the Celestial Pills Locations.

What are Celestial Pills?¶

Celestial Pills come in three types, Jade Lotus (Health), Nonary (Stamina), and Taiyi (Mana). Every time you find one of these items, you’ll automatically gain a permanent amount of the stat that the pill offers you. Although this is a minor amount, it does add up throughout the game, so you’ll want to find them all. There is one of each type in every Chapter outside the final Chapter that only has one, although this pill will add all three attributes to make up for it.

Black Wind Mountain (Chapter 1) Celestial Pill Locations¶

Celestial Jade Lotus Pill¶

From the Guanyin Temple Shrine in the Forest of Wolves, head up the nearby stairs into the temple area. If you haven’t defeated Lingxuzi yet, you’ll need to do so first. Once you have free access to the area. Continue onwards into the next temple and look to your left, where you’ll find an altar with a small golden container at its base. Interact with the container to acquire the Celestial Jade Lotus Pill.

Celestial Taiyi Pill¶

Progress through the Chapter until you reach the Marsh of White Mist Shrine in Bamboo Grove. From there, head down the wooden ramps straight ahead and under the log to battle the Whiteclad Noble. After defeating it, go through the extremely dark cave at the back of the arena and out the other side. Take the left path, as it’ll lead to a Meditation Spot, which can be found to the left of the cliff edge. Here is where you’ll find the Pill too, as it’ll be in the small gold container on the table opposite the Meditation Spot.

Celestial Nonary Pill¶

The final Pill in Chapter 1 can be found near the “Outside the Forest” Shrine in Black Wind Cave, which is near the end of Chapter 1 and can be found on the path leading to Bohdi Peak. This Pill is difficult to miss as you walk past it as you’re heading up the mountain. Follow the linear path up the mountain from the Shrine, and you’ll soon pass an altar to your left. The small gold container can be found on a small table on the altar.

Yellow Wind Ridge (Chapter 2) Celestial Pill Locations¶

Celestial Nonary Pill¶

The first Pill of Chapter 2 can be found near the Valley of Despair Shrine in Sandgate Village, which can be found after defeating the King of Flowing Sands and his Son boss. From the Shrine, head into the nearby cave to the right of the Shrine. Inside the cave, defeat the enemies and continue onward until you reach the next area. Straight ahead, you’ll see a brazier at the back to your right. Head toward it, proceed forward past the small table, and drop to the area below.

Head left until you see the next brazier (on your right) and go right to find a stone bridge leading up into another area. Go over the “bridge” and follow the narrow path to what appears to be a dead end. Interact with the thin crack in the wall to squeeze through it, and you’ll be attacked by an Enhanced Swift Bat who will drop its Spirit upon defeat. With it defeated, continue onward toward the fenced-up doorway, break the fence, and go into the following area. Once again, you’ll get ambushed by some more Swift Bats, so defeat them, and head to the back of the area to find a small Shrine containing a gold container with the Pill.

Celestial Taiyi Pill¶

Progress through the Chapter until you reach the Rock Clash Platform in Fright Cliff. From the Shrine, take the path ahead next to the building and follow it down. When you reach the intersection, you’ll have two ways to go. The left path will take you to the Meditation Spot while the right path leads to the Pill. As soon as you go onto the right path, you’ll find the gold container sitting on a small stone bench.

Celestial Jade Lotus Pill¶

For the final Pill of Chapter 2, you’ll need to go to the Crouching Tiger Temple and defeat the Tiger Vanguard boss. After it’s defeated, interact with the pedestal slightly above the arena in the center to drain the pool of blood. This will reveal a hidden entrance to the Cellar area. Go through the ominous mouth and drop into the Cellar. As you drop, head right and follow the path down until you get ambushed by two enemies. To the left of them is an altar with a golden container at its base.

The New West (Chapter 3) Celestial Pill Locations¶

Celestial Taiyi Pill¶

The first Pill in Chapter 3 can’t be found for a while. Progress through the Chapter until you defeat the Captain Wise-Voice boss. The following Shrine will be “Outside the Wheel”. From the Shrine, go up the stairs in the cave ahead to the water area and exit to the right. Follow the narrow path while keeping an eye out for the small altar to your right. The gold container will be on the small altar.

Celestial Jade Lotus Pill¶

The next Pill can be found on Turtle Island in the Bitter Lake area. From the Shrine, turn the camera directly behind you, and walk down the snowy slope while going slightly to the right. Drop down two platforms, and you’ll find the altar containing the gold container against the wall to the right.

Celestial Nonary Pill¶

The final Pill of Chapter 3 can be found within New Thunderclap Temple, near the Temple Entrance Shrine. From the Shrine, head forward and go through the nearby temple. Go up the stairs to the left after exiting the building, and follow the path until you can go down some more stairs to your left, which will place you near another temple.

Go into the temple, climb the stairs to the top, and take the left path from the exit to reach a wooden bridge. Head over to the left side of the bridge and jump over the railing into the snowy area. Here, you’ll find a fair amount of enemies, defeat them before going toward the container as they’ll ambush you anyway. With the enemies defeated, drop onto the ice and follow the path around to the left to find a small altar with the golden container.

The Webbed Hollow (Chapter 4) Celestial Pill Locations¶

Celestial Jade Lotus¶

The first Pill can be found after you’ve defeated the first boss in the area, The Second Sister. After the battle, follow Zhu Bajie into the next area, go around the large hole, and interact with the golden container by the large gold disc at the back.

Celestial Taiyi Pill¶

Progress through the area until you reach the Cliff of Oblivion Shrine in The Webbed Hollow. Defeat the Buddha’s Right Hand to create a platform you can go over. On the left side, you’ll find the golden container.

Celestial Nonary Pill¶

The final Pill in Chapter 4 is missable. It requires you to complete a quest to get access to the area where the Pill resides. However, the quest must be completed before you fight the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master boss at the end of Chapter 4. Flaming Mountains (Chapter 5) Celestial Pill Locations¶

Celestial Jade Lotus Pill¶

The first Pill in Chapter 5 is an easy one. Make your way to the Ashen Pass II Shrine in the Woods of Ember. Look across from the Shrine to find the golden container.

Celestial Taiyi Pill¶

Another easy Pill to find. Progress the Chapter until you reach the Rakshasa Palace Shrine in Furnace Valley. The golden container will be to the right of the Shrine.

Celestial Nonary Pill¶

To make up for all the easy Pills, the final one requires some work. Firstly, you’ll need to access the Secret Area: Bishui Cave, which requires completing the Five Carts Quest. Once you’ve gained access to the Secret Area, make your way to the first Shrine, Purge Pit. From here, take the stairs down, and defeat the Top Takes Bottom, Bottom Takes Top Boss. With the boss defeated, go up the stairs, head into the next area, and search the first alcove on the left to find the golden container.

Mount Huaguo (Chapter 6) Celestial Pill Locations¶

The last Pill in the game is the Five Skandhas Pill, which is a special Pill that increases all your attributes. This can only be obtained by handing over the four Skandha’s obtained throughout the game. This will spawn the super boss, Giant Shigandang. Upon defeat, you’ll obtain the Pill. Here is where you can find the four Skandha’s:

• Skandha of Form: In the river opposite the area where you fight the Bullguard in Chapter 1.
• Skandha of Feeling: Obtained by beating Shigandang, an optional boss in the Secret Area of Chapter 2. The boss can only be faced after finding all six of Buddha’s Eyeballs. Read our Buddha’s Eyeballs Quest for a guide on how to complete it.
• Skandha of Thought: Near the Mindfulness Cliff shrine in the Valley of Ecstasy. To reach it, follow these steps: 1) When you reach a ramshackle wooden bridge near the shrine, jump off the cliff nearby and proceed forward up several stairs and slopes. 2) When the path forks, take a right past the decorated wall and continue following the snowy cliff edge. 3) When you reach a cave, keep pressing forward. You’ll eventually find a stone Buddha head and can interact with it to claim the Skandha of Thought.
• Skandha of Choice: Near The Purifying Spring Shrine in the Webbed Hollow. Follow the steps below to reach it. 1) When facing the shrine, start by going right towards the cave exit. 2) Proceed forward until you can go up some stairs, then keep going forward over some wooden platforms. Continue circling the lake, and you’ll eventually notice a Buddha head on your left. Interact with it to get the Skandha of Choice.
• The final Skandha, Skandha of Consciousness, is obtained by defeating the Giant Shigandang.
