Red Loong Boss Location¶
Red Loong is the first of a series of battles that you need to complete in order to finish the Loong Scales Side Quest. To begin, you’ll need to obtain the Loong Scales which is item found in chapter 2 and you can find it by following the steps on our Loong Scales Quest page and then fast travel to the Outside the Forest Shrine which is located in the Forest of Wolves Area and then go left at the first fork and continue to reach the waterfall.
Red Loong Boss Strategy¶
This opponent will be quite the challenge if you face it as soon as it becomes available, so we recommend that you wait until you reach chapter 3, as you’ll have access to stronger potions, equipment and spells. Red Loong moves around the arena at quite a fast pace so you’ll want to continuously keep on the move and avoid staying too close for too long otherwise you’ll leave yourself open to lots of attacks. If you take too many hits and get put into the Shocked State, then you’ll want to quickly use some Shock-Quelling Powder to remove it.
Once you’ve dealt enough damage to the boss it’ll temporarily fall to the ground and leave its back exposed. Here you’ll want to quickly focus all your attacks on the pots to deal large chunks of damage. If you quickly follow up straight away with the immobilize Spell, then this will give you a bit more time to get some more hits in. As always, there are a few attacks up his sleeve and you can learn more about them below:
Tail Swing¶
Red Loong will perform a swinging motion with its tail a lot throughout the battle and you can avoid this via a few methods. You can either dodge it, but this will require precise timing so we recommend it to only the most skilled of players or if you’re not overly confident, then simply keep your distance and only go in for an attack when it stops.
Electrical Explosion & Storm¶
Once Red Loong gets back on its feet after being staggered, it’ll sometimes follow up with an electrical explosion which will obviously deal lots of damage, so you’ll want to make sure you create some distance before it occurs. Additionally, it’ll fly across the sky throughout the fight and unleash electricity across the floor which will explode, so you’ll want to find a gap between them to avoid taking damage. If you do get hit by any of these, then this will be a good opportunity to use the Shock-Quelling Powder.
Melee Onslaught¶
Outside of all the main electric based attacks, this boss has a fair few heavy hitting melee attacks which consists of stomping on the ground and swiping in quick succession. The best way to avoid these is to stop attacking temporally and focus on dodging until he stops.
Red Loong Rewards¶
There you have it, every attack that Red Loong has in his arsenal along with tips on how to counter them. Defeating this fiend will reward you with the following items: Thunder Tail, Boshan Censer, Loong Pearl x1, Mind Core x1, and Silk x3.
