Black Myth: Wukong

Gold Tree Core Locations

By
Ben Chard

As you progress through Black Myth: Wukong, you’ll come across plenty of materials that you can put to use in crafting improved weapons and armor. Most materials work on a tier system, and once you reach Chapter 4, you’re going to need to get your hands on the Legendary "Gold Tree Core" iconGold Tree Core material to forge the new weapons available. Keep reading to learn where you can get your hands on them.

Gold Tree Core can be purchased from Shrines from the start of Chapter 4 of Black Myth: Wukong.

Where to Find Gold Tree Core

Most items in Black Myth: Wukong have a rarity attached to them, starting at Common and raising all the way to Mythical. As you play and progress through the adventure, you’ll gain access to the higher tiers in each new Chapter, even if there are a few instances of it in the previous Chapter (usually for a difficult, optional boss).

Once you reach the start of Chapter 4, you’ll start noticing that the new weapons will start requiring Gold Tree Cores to build, but fortunately, this is also the Chapter where it starts becoming more readily available. This is the last material you’ll need before you need to get your hands on the limited Kun Steel to craft the very best weapons.

As always, there are various methods for obtaining Gold Tree Cores, and they are as follows:

  • Dropped from some bosses in Chapter 3

  • Dropped by some bosses in Chapter 4

  • Purchased from some Shrines in Chapter 4 onward

  • Found in chests scattered about in Chapter 4 onward

There’s not many instances of Gold Tree Core in Chapter 3, but once you beat the final boss, Yellowbrow, you’ll get a Gold Tree Core in the rewards screen. This is useful as you’ll be able to put it to use right at the start of the next Chapter, although perhaps you’re better off waiting until you defeat the first boss of Chapter 4.

Speaking of Chapter 4, some of the bosses here will also drop Gold Tree Core, starting with the first mandatory boss of the Chapter, "The Second Sister" iconThe Second Sister, just beyond the first Shrine you’ll reach at the Estate. As you head further into the Chapter, you’ll reach another mandatory battle against the "Violet Spider" iconViolet Spider, who also drops a Gold Tree Core. Finally, if you make your way to the Secret Area of Chapter 4, you can run into "The Scorpionlord" iconThe Scorpionlord, who drops a Gold Tree Core.

You should be aware of by now that Shrines in Black Myth: Wukong have their own inventory based on the Chapter and sometimes different areas within, save for a different shop for some “Secret” areas (of which there is one in Chapters 1, 2, 4, and 5). For the purpose of this guide, you’re looking for any Shrines that may be selling Gold Tree Core, and in Chapter 4, which doesn’t leave you with much choice. You’ll be able to buy a single Gold Tree Core at 4500 "Will" iconWill, which you will most likely already have on you, as soon as you reach the first Shrine of the Chapter.

Finally, Chests will be your primary source of Gold Tree Cores in Chapter 4, many of them will often include them or Fine Gold Thread, a material needed for the current tier of armor. For example, if you go to the Lower Hollow Shrine in Chapter 4, you can go back on yourself and you’ll find a large area with a drop in the middle, where plenty of enemies await. Survive the gauntlet and head to the bottom of the drop to find a Chest housing a Gold Tree Core!
