Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Mission 14: The Trial of Lake Verity

By
Vincent Lau

This is a guide for Mission 14: “The Trial of Lake Verity” in Pokémon Legends: "Arceus" IconArceus (PLA).

How to Start Mission 14

(1 of 2) For this mission, you’ll need to visit Lake Verity.

You’ll receive this mission alongside Mission 15 and Mission 16 after speaking to Cogita at the Ancient Retreat during Mission 13, “Disaster Looming”. As its name suggests, this mission involves seeking the Legendary Pokémon of Lake Verity.

1. Head to the Island at Lake Verity

Obviously, to begin the trial, you must make your way to Lake Verity, which is located on the west side of Obsidian Fieldlands. We suggest entering or fast-traveling to the Heights Camp, then gliding west on "Braviary" IconBraviary.

Your destination is the conspicuous island in the center of the lake. If you came earlier, there was nothing interesting there. However, when you use the Arc Phone in front of the wall next to Adaman/Irida and Volo, a cave entrance will magically appear.

2. Undertake Mesprit’s Trial

Inside the cavern, there are two parts to the trial. Firstly, you’ll need to show your skills as a Pokémon trainer by defeating the alpha Pokémon ahead.

Alpha Pokémon

(1 of 2) Hisuian Goodra has gained the Steel-type.

If you’re aiming to defeat this "Goodra" IconGoodra, use Ground or Fighting-types. Don’t worry if you’ve got none of those, since it’s one Pokémon versus up to six of yours.

Meanwhile, if you’re attempting to catch the Goodra, Electric-types are useful for resisting its Iron Tail. Fairy-types are immune to Goodra’s Dragon Pulse, but they’re weak to Iron Tail.

Be mindful of its unique Shelter move, which raises its defensive stats and adds the obscured effect, which boosts evasion.

(1 of 2) Mesprit is the guardian of Lake Verity.

The second part of the trial is surprisingly trivial. Interact with "Mesprit" IconMesprit, who appears in the center of the cavern. You’ll then be asked to share your experiences of living in the Hisui region. As far as we can tell, you can pick any answers you want. Your reward is Mesprit’s Plume.

3. Report to Cogita at the Ancient Retreat

(1 of 2) You can let Volo fast-track you to the Ancient Retreat if you desire.

Having completed the trial, you should head back to the Ancient Retreat and report your findings to Cogita. Volo will offer to instantly transport you to the Ancient Retreat when you exit the cavern. Or you can go there yourself by leaving the Obsidian Fieldlands (via the entrance or speaking to the Diamond/Pearl Member).
