Request 96: Massive Mass Outbreak in the Fieldlands

By
Vincent Lau

This is a guide for Request 96: “Massive Mass Outbreak in the Fieldlands” in the “Daybreak” DLC for Pokémon Legends: "Arceus" IconArceus (PLA).

How to Unlock Request 96

(1 of 2) There will be many requests like this.

There will be many requests like this. (left), As they say, strike while the iron’s hot! (right)

You can pick up this request from Mai near the Front Gate of Jubilife Village after completing Request 95. At the conclusion of that request, Mai ran into Cyllene’s office with some dire news.

After accepting this request, Mai will ask if you want to enter the Obsidian Fieldlands with her or not. To advance this request, agree.

1. Investigate 3 Mass Outbreaks

The two of you will arrive back at the Heights Camp.

(1 of 2) A Massive Mass Outbreak at the beginning…

A Massive Mass Outbreak at the beginning… (left), …and after checking every outbreak. (right)

You’ll then learn about Massive Mass Outbreaks: these are dozens of Mass Outbreaks that occur simltaneously. Unlike regular outbreaks, you can’t tell what Pokémon are in the outbreaks, until you get close; they will appear as question marks on the map until then.

Also, there’s a time limit. When the rainstorm ends, all of the inactive outbreaks will vanish. From time to time, there will be an update along the top of the screen indicating roughly how much time the rainstorm has remaining. By the way, if the rainstorm ends while you’re at an outbreak, any already spawned Pokémon will remain.

Additionally, there are special outbreaks, indicated by an icon on the map.

  • A star icon means that outbreak will always have a second wave. The second wave may include evolved versions of the original wave or all alphas. Outbreaks without a star can have a second wave, but the chance is lower.
  • A berry icon means that you can acquire Aguav Berries from that outbreak. Later on, you can give these to Mai’s "Munchlax" IconMunchlax to reveal all of the outbreak Pokémon on the map. So you don’t need to guess.

(1 of 2) First, head to an interesting outbreak.

First, head to an interesting outbreak. (left), Then sweep out all the Pokémon until they’re gone or a second wave appears. (right)

Anyway, your goal is to catch/defeat/scare off all the Pokémon in three separate outbreaks. It doesn’t matter which ones. However, if a second wave spawns, it won’t count as a separate outbreak.

For an investigation to count, you need to see the “the reported Pokémon seems to have gone…” or “A new horde seems to have formed” message. There will also be a pop up with an update to your request progress. If neither of these appear, it could be that some Pokémon are hiding or far away.

2. Report to Mai

Having achieved your goal, fast-travel to the Heights Camp and speak to Mai. Thus ends this request. Afterwards, Cabala will come over to share a nugget of wisdom.

Reward for Request 96

They’re very generous with these rewards!

You’ll receive the following items:

  • Tumblestone x30
  • Iron Chunk x40
  • Smoke Bomb x20
