DMZ and Warzone 2 share a brand new feature called Strongholds. The new feature creates headquarters for AI combatants that spawn when you and your quad push them to take the loot from the area. In Warzone 2, these are key areas to get your loadout, while in DMZ, they are key mercenary contract progressions and other sources of great gear. But to get in them, you will need a key card. Here is everything you need to know about DMZ key locations and how to get stronghold keys in DMZ.
DMZ and WZ2 Key Locations¶
There are a few sources of keys in DMZ, with players looking to get Stronghold keys to access Strongholds. Meanwhile, there are other locked rooms throughout the map, which require keys to enter. Thes doors are typically big metal doors with an X spray painted onto the door. These are the locations of Black Sites, which are activated after you complete Strongholds, and as long as you get the Black Site key for completing the Stronghold. Being the first team to clear a Stronghold rewards the Blacksite key that you can visit. You will then also be able to see Blacksite locations the tactical map.
The general rule of thumb for getting your hands on the DMZ and WZ2 Stronghold keys is from enemies you fight in the nearby area. There is a chance that NPCs you fight in each area will drop the Stronghold Key Card. These keycards can then be used to open the doors to the Strongholds, which you can find on the tactical map found by the castle icon. Once inside, you then get special missions, which are likely to reap the good rewards from your DMZ mercenary mission, or get your loadout in Warzone 2.
Therefore, the DMZ and WZ2 Key locations are randomized throughout the map. If you need to get into a Stronghold, whether extracting some good weapons or completing your challenges, then rest assured you need to go killing and looting. Hopefully, these DMZ key drop chances are on your side, so you can get good loot for yourself and your squad.
