The BAS-P is the brand new SMG added in season 1 launch for MW2. The weapon is unlocked via the battle pass, and brings a whole new range of attachments, playstyle, and challenges to complete. This guide aims to help speed up the BAS-P cam challenges, offering tips, tricks, loadout suggestions, and map strategies to get this done.

Polyatomic Challenge | 25 headshots with the BAS-P | Polyatomic |
Orion Challenge | Complete 51 Polyatomic challenges | Orion Camo |
For the most part, these BAS-P camo challenges are fairly easy to do. The hip fire kills is surprisingly not too hard, as the BAS-P has fairly decent hip fire accuracy and recoil control. Look for those close-range fights, either near pathways, doorways, or running close to a player, and you should find this challenge is fairly easy. You can also stand still, or even crouch to keep that hip fir accuracy clean.
The other hard one is the kills from behind. To do this, you need to camp entrances to sights or pathways that you have cover. You can do this rather well on gamemodes like Hardpoint or Headquarters, where you can camp, and then attack the back of players. It’s a viable strategy for camping doorways behind cover on the objective, or watching enemies get closer to the objective from a flank angles. Alternatively, we’ve found we are getting back kills quite easily on the Shoot House map. Use Dead Silence to get the flanks you need by jumping over walls or going around a pathway with less attention, and you should be able to push enemies in the back.
BAS-P Gold Camo Challenge and Higher Mastery Level Challenges¶
Moving onto the BAS-P Gold Camo Challenge. You need three kills without dying. If you’re an experienced SMG player, you will likely be running around the map getting your three kills with easer. However, the BAS-P is a bit of a bullet hose and will chew through your ammunition.** We recommend using the 50-round drum**, as that will increase your chances if you have to do some distance spraying. The weapon tends to get some heavy burst recoil around the 25-meter range, so a compensator should help tone that down, such as the FTAC Castle Comp.
Moving onto the BAS-P Platinum Camo Challenge, you now need long shots. SMG longshots are normally around the 30-meter mark, so, you will need to invest heavily into horizontal recoil control to keep that aiming easy, and extend your barrel. Two good choices for this are as follows:
- Barrel: 12“ Bruen SZ-36
- Muzzle: XRX Sandstorm for heavy vertical recoil control, or FTAC Castle Comp for added horizontal recoil
- Underbarrel: Phase 3 Grip
These three attachments will give you the range you need, the added bullet velocity, and better ADS stability, and recoil control. This should help to make those longshots much more achievable.
If you’re also in the market for ensuring you’re fighting someone in the 30+ range, then you can use the XTEN Angel-40, a holographic site with a built-in range finder. This should make it significantly easier to position on the fly and watch angles that count as longshot kills. Also, feel free to mount your gun to cover or even equip a deployable shield field upgrade to ensure you are set up nicely for longshot kills on any map. That way, you have the cover to deal with stronger weapons at range, and it helps to make recoil control significantly easier.
Lastly, we have the BAS-P Polyatomic Camo Challenge. You now need to get headshots with this weapon. We feel this is much easier to do up close, so run that preferred optic, and take those ADS barrel, rear grip and stock improvements for that fast playstyle. Now you need to aim at the enemies heads and go for it. This may take a while, as most MW2 maps are built for long-range in mind. However, there are decent close-quarters areas on places like Farm 18, Fortress, El Asilo and more. Good luck with grinding the BAS-P camo challenges!
