The Strela-P is one of four launchers in MW2, offering solid anti-air options and some ground-and-pound explosions. While you level this up, you will naturally have to complete challenges along with it, especially if you’re on the path to Orion. Here is a closer look at the Strela-P camo challenges, along with tips, tricks, class setup and map strategies to make it easier.
MW2 Strela-P Camo Challenges Tips¶
Here is a quick look at the Strela-P camo challenges in MW2
Challenge | Requirement | Camo reward |
---|---|---|
Challenge 1 | Get 40 kills with the Strela-P | Deep Jungle |
Gold Challenge | Get two kills without dying five times | Gold Camo |
Platinum Challenge | Destroy 25 enemy equipment, vehicles, or streaks with the Strela-P | Platinum Camo |
Polyatomic Challenge | 15 double kills with the Strela-P | Polyatomic |
Orion Challenge | Currently unknown | Orion Camo |
When you reach level 11, you get the challenge to kill 40 players using the Strela-P. You can employ a few tactics to make hunting for kills with a Strela significantly easier. The best examples we recommend are:
- Ground War Helicopter: The big Helicopter on the Ground War mode will offer you the chance to look from the sky, looking for players capturing ground war flags, or snipers on rooftops. Stand at the back of the chopper, and look for kills. You can use an ammo box on the chopper to get an extra mag and get another kill, before you have to fall from the sky and respawn back inside it
- Domination, Hardpoint or Headquarters: Look for sites and objectives getting captured, and launch your Strela-P onto the site for free kill(s). This is better if you know the enemies or capturing, or you’re one of the few left standing against a wave of enemies coming to the objective.
- General run and gun. Look for thin areas, and potentially have dense enemies, as you’re more likely to blow them up. Examples include the Crown raceway corridors, Farm 18 buildings, and other such examples of thin and tight spaces.
No matter what challenge you’re doing, we recommend using the Overclock ultimate perk. You get an extra regeneration rate of your Field Upgrade, which means you can place Munition Boxes down, offering a speedier process of getting launcher kills in your game.
If you’re opting for the Hardpoint and Headquarters game modes for your challenge kills, then the Snapshot Grenades are great options. These are criminally underrated, as throwing one onto site will reveal enemies tagged by it. It means you can see exactly what are enemies are at, and launch your Strela-P in that general direction. Just be mindful of enemies hiding behind clever, so some level of map knowledge is needed to execute this properly.
We also recommend running the Tracking perk to see enemy footsteps. It will help you track hostiles around the area, leading you to them ready for you to blow them up.
Strela-P Gold Camo Challenge and Higher Mastery Level Challenges¶
Moving onto the Strela-P Gold Camo Challenge in MW2, you need to get two kills without dying. Every default loadout comes with two rounds for eh Strela-P, which means you’re fishing for a kill with every round. If you made it this far, feel free to use whatever strategy you like from the base camo strategy, and repeat that process again. You will eventually get the two kills within five lives and complete the gold challenge easily.
The only other piece of advise is to take your time. Don’t rush and get yourself caught for th second. Play safe, and wait for the enemies to come to you if you’re overlooking certain areas, or monitor enemy movement if your pushing and then discharge when you know you can. There’s nothing worse than dying before you get to fire the launcher at your second target.
Strela-P Platinum Challenge¶
Now for the Strela-P Platinum Camo Challenge. The trick here is to take out lots of killstreaks, enemy field equipment, and vehicles. There are two main options for this
- Ground War and Invasion Vehicles
- Objective 6v6 modes
Ground War and Invasion give the 20 players on the enemy team to get more opportunities to put UAVs in the air. This is a free opportunity to go and shoot them down.
If you go into Ground War, then we recommend taking a LMG with some form of vehicle destroying rounds, such as incendiary. This is because your LMG can put enemy armor low, with your missiles getting the last hit. It’s handy to do, especially if you’re out of munition box resupplies, and dying means you may lose the kill credit for your Strela-P.
As for 6v6 capture modes, there’s plenty of equipment to take out. One of the better strategies for this is to take DDOS and run onto sites. The DDOS meter at the bottom right of the screen will fill a bar for every nearby thing that can be disabled, including electronic equipment. Use this as an indicator of things you can disable. Once they are disabled, you are free to fire your Strela-P at them, which is incredibly handy for taking out Trophy Systems, Cluster mines or other bits and bobs safely. You can also use the Spotter perk to track enemy electronics in the nearby area.
Meanwhile, the core playlists are filled with players leveling their guns, using the UAV, Counter UAV strategy. You will find there are several UAVS to shoot down each game. Make sure you’re the first to take them out on your team. This is probably the safest bet to getting slow but guaranteed progress on your platinum challenge. You will also need to aim adjust, as you can’t lock on. Counter UAVs are certainly easier to hit on all game modes, while UAVs are much easier to hit if you spawn on the big helicopter on ground war and look to see if they are nearby.
Strela-P Polyatomic Challenge¶
Finally, the Strela-P Polyatomic Camo Challenge requires double kills. This is slightly hard for the Strela-P, since its AOE damage radius feels slightly worse than the likes of the RPG, for example. What you need to do is find those funnel spots, and hope you get double kills. We recommend pre-aiming funnel spots, especially ones you know are competitive, such as keymap rotation spots, site pushes and more. Also, Domination means players need to be very close to the flag to capture it, meaning you can be very sure you can at least get a kill while you defend a capture point. Good examples of competitive funnel spots are as follows:
- Crown Raceway corridors in the Pit Garage area.
- Al Bagra Fortress gate areas, balcony and doorways
- The tunnels and alleyways around Mercados Las Almas
- Farm 18 middle building and basement
- Middle ruin area on Taraq
- The middle section of the building on El Asilo
- Any map, as long as its Domination
- There are other areas, but these are the ones that spring to mind the most.
In addition, we recommend running tools that get your information. For example, the Recon Drone is useful for tracking down lots of players. This can give you the information you need to reposition or know which angle will offer the best chances at double kills. Moreso, it can help inform you if you need to wait for a second or two before appearing to make the best chances of your Strela-P hitting two people. You should also run a UAV, and maybe even take the Birdseye perk to the exact pathing of enemy players spotted by UAVS. Having as much information is key to beating the Polyatomic challenge.
It’s also possible to use the Snapshot Grenades’ tactic to find the two closest together enemies in an objective like a Hardpoint to get the two kills you need. Make take Extra Tactical base perk if you need more intel using this strategy before committing your Strela-P round.
This concludes the Strela-P camo challenges guide. Good luck with the grind to Orion, as these launcher double kills are certainly a test of patience.
