By
Craig Robinson

The SP-X 80 is the final sniper unlock of the Bryson long weapon platform, This offers players the hybrid option between the fast ads times of the MM variations, but with the power of its sister sniper. The result is one fun gun to run with, and a very enjoyable leveling process. While you’re leveling it up, you get access to the SP-X 8- camo challenges. We are here today to offer tips, tricks, loadout suggestions, and map strategies to complete the SP-X camo challenges in MW2, including assistance on the SP-X 80 gold challenge and beyond.

Here is a look at the SP-X Camo Challenges in MW2, and the tips you need to make breathing these challenges easier.

MW2 SP-X 80 Camo Challenges Tips

Here are all the SP-X 80 camo challenges in MW2

Challenge Requirement Camo reward
Challenge 1 Get 50 kills with the SP-X 80 Scratch
Challenge 2 Get 20 kills while mounted with the SP-X 80 Dry Field
Challenge 3 Get 25 one-shot -one kills with the SP-X 80 Aspen
Challenge 4 Get 50 kills using a suppressor on the SP-X 80 Lichyard
Gold Challenge Get three kills without dying ten times Gold Camo
Platinum Challenge 20 longshots with the SP-X 80 Platinum Camo
Polyatomic Challenge 20 headshots with the SP-X 80 Polyatomic
Orion Challenge Complete 51 Polyatomic challenges Orion Camo

Like the LA-B, you will naturally complete these challenges with ease. They are fancy ways of saying get kills with the gun, especially with the challenges 1, 3 and 4. The recommended loadout to use to get the kills for this build is as follows:

  • Barrel: 18.5 “ Bryson LR Factory
  • Laser: Corio LAZ-44 V3
  • Muzzle: Bruen Agent 90 or Ammunition: .300 High Velocity
  • Rear Grip: Schlager Match Grip
  • Bolt: FSS ST87 Bolt

The purpose of this build is to dramatically increase your ADS speed. This gun is mobile for a sniper, and has very good ADS speed. It means you can quick scope if you want, or readjust to new targets no matter the situation. There is a flexible choice between the Muzzle and the Ammunition, and this largely depends on the challenge. The muzzle is required for early leveling velocity, and for the level 18 challenge when it unlocks. Once you’re done with the leveling process and the silencer challenge, the .300 high velocity ammo is a much better option.

The only somewhat difficult one is the mounted kills challenge. You will likely need to move around the map using the mount to your advantage and getting mounted kills. It’s not ideal, especially if you’re on maps where you need to play more indoors. However, the best maps to get mounted kills are on the Embassy tennis court area. No matter which side you’re on, you can snipe from one spawn to the other, or you can mount up the flower beds and over look the mid-connector. The other good maps for mounted sniper kills are Taraq, Fortress, and especially Raceway if you decide to use a bipod mount for your underbarrel in pit lane and paddock.

SP-X 80 Gold Camo Challenge and Higher Mastery Level Challenges

Once you’ve done the four base SP-X camo challenges, you will unlock the SP-X 80 Gold Camo Challenge You need to get three kills with the SP-X without dying ten times. The strategy for this is to overlook hot rotations on maps, or overlook the objectives. If you’re confident in your quick scoping, you can run into the hot areas and do that instead. The best advice we can give is to go to Hardpoint, Headquarters, or Domination, and overlook these sites. The trick is not to die. Feel free to take the Bomb Squad and Battle Hardened perks, Trophy System field upgrade, and camp like a true sniper. Also, take Focus so you can easily keep your aim steady in case you do get wounded.

SP-X 80 Platinum Challenge

As for the SP-X 80 Platinum Camo Challenge in MW2, you need longshot kills. Now, the best way to get long-shot kills is to jump into Invasion and Ground War, and get into those sniper battles. Once you win, you will go on a long-shot roll. However, if these maps are not for you, then feel free to go to any of the following map and locations:

  • El Asilo, such as the rock near A on Domination, all the way over the car on the dirt road and beyond. The radio tower works too, if you cover the north direction, as does the building to the southwest side of the map overlooking the storage yard, and the swing dirt mound section.
  • The raceway is good, especially if you can get prone on the fire engine and cover B site on Domination in front of the pit area of the map. You can also snipe down the paddock area, no matter which side you spawn on.
  • Embassy, especially the tennis court and front gate area. You can also get a good prone spot on the roof area of rear gate, near the cafeteria roof. This allows you to cover the car park, with the 35-meter range being the gates to the main embassy building.
  • Taraq is also good if you’re covering north-to-south angles, especially the ruin area towards the building with the second-floor outdoor sniping area, which you can use to cover any objectives that go in that direction.
  • Hotel offers some good long-range angles near the Patio / Parking boost spot, overlooking the Chandelier hallway to the check-in room and vice versa. The handbag store to the kitchen entrance also works very well.

SP-X 80 Polyatomic Camo Challenge

Finally, you have the SP-X 80 Polyatomic Camo Challenge in MW2. The recommendation we have for you here is to play either the ADS build, or change your loadout for more damage and velocity, and play right at the back and snipe enemies. If you play ADS, change your optic as well, as the hybrid scopes will offer those awesome close-range headshot tracking opportunities, while giving you a scope to actually quick scope when necessary. The sniper build will take the damage range, and velocity attachments for the build, and then try to get fast-moving long-range headshots. This is achievable with the base scope. All you need is the Focus bonus perk to get it going, and you should have a good time. See the recommended long shot kill maps to benefit from the long range playstyle as listed in the plat challenge recommendations.

For both strategies, we recommend finding those angles you like pushing or holding, and learning the head height. That way, your close-range headshots are viable, and the long-range sniper playstyle can easily pre-aim their sight onto heads. This is very good if you overwatch an objective, similar to how you operate during the gold challenge.

This concludes the SP-X 80 camo challenges guide. Hopefully, you now know how you should use your loadout and the strategies to take on the SP-X 80 gold, platinum and polyatomic challenges. Good luck with your grind to Orion.
