If you have been playing through Modern Warfare II’s great campaign mode - and you should - even if it just to pick up the extra XP tokens and other unlocks - when you reach Mission 11 - El Sin Nombre - chances are you will have uncovered a safe, hidden in a cupboard in Diego’s room on the second floor of the building. But where is the combination? Read on to locate the code and access the goods inside.

How To Open Diego’s Safe in El Sin Nombre¶
Once you have climbed up the ledge outside the building, carefully sneak past the first window opening. There is usually a guard lurking so get across as quickly as possible to the second opening.
This will let you access Diego’s room where there are no guards in open play. Once inside if you open the door next to the bathroom it will reveal a safe that needs to be unlocked with a combination. At this point, you won’t have a clue what it is and could spend time hunting around the room looking for anything obvious, in fact, that’s what we did, even though the code was in plain sight all along.
Retreat from the closet containing the safe and walk around the corner. There you will see a portrait hanging on the left-hand wall with a cupboard you can also open for a weapon underneath it. Look carefully at the portrait and you will see a date - 02-02-19 - that is the combination for the safe. You need to be cleverer than that Diego.

Head back to the safe and enter the combination and Soap will get access to its contents - a Plate Carrier vest and a Lockwood 300 riot gun.
Pick up the Plate Carrier - you might want the gun too, although it will definitely spoil your softly, softly approach of sneaking through the building looking for the whereabouts of El Sin Nombre.
Do You Have To Unlock The Safe In El Sin Nombre?¶
The contents of the safe are not mission-critical here, merely nice-to-haves. Much like sneaking into the very off-limits garage in the same mission which contains Diego’s personal armory, you don’t need to. You could just bypass the safe completely and head for Diego as the keycard you are looking for is in the room with him,
