The M16 is one of Modern Warfare’s most iconic weapons. The days of CoD 4 of players bursting players down live on in hearts and minds. However, it’s no simple task unlocking the M16 in MW2, thanks to its new weapon platform system. Here is a crash course on how to unlock the M16 in MW2.
The M16 unlocks by reaching certain weapons within the M4 family tree.
How to unlock the M16 in MW2¶
To unlock the M16 in MW2, you need to complete the following steps in this order.
- Level the M4 to level 18 and unlock the 556 Icarus
- Level the 556 Icarus to level 19
You can level the M4 using either of the default classes, or create your own class. Once you unlock the 556 Icarus, you will need to create a class and use it. Once you complete the two long, grinding steps, you will unlock the M16 in MW2.
The M16 is one of several assault rifles in Modern Warfare locked behind the new weapon platform system. It means for those very desirable weapons that players want to use, you will need to grind some iconic and fewer meta weapons to try out new playstyles. While it’s a pain to do so, it does mean you will actually unlock plenty of family attachments.
It means that when you unlock the M16 in MW2, you will have plenty of attachments to choose from in that family. All you need to do is get to levelling your weapon to unlock the attachment slot, and you can benefit from your previous hard work.
