In Dogtown, a fixer who goes by Mr. Hands will have an interesting side job for you to take in Cyberpunk: Phantom Liberty. This will involve spending time as a director of an erotic Braindance scroll, meeting two Lina’s, and a baseball bat called Baby Boomer. Interested? Read below to find out where and how you can complete the side job, Dazed and Confused in Phantom Liberty.
How to complete all the Dazed and Confused Objectives in Phantom Liberty¶
If you find yourself caught out at a specific objective, you can use these quick links to jump to the section you need:
How to Start Dazed and Confused¶
This side job can be acquired from a text from Mr. Hands, but before you can get it, you’ll need to progress the main story. More specifically, complete mission 5, The Damned. Now, you’ll have met the requirement to receive the text, but you may have to wait a while before you get it. It’s best to carry on with the game for now, and you should get the text. If it’s been a while, and you still haven’t received it yet, then try reloading your save as that might help trigger it.
Once you have the text, you’ll find out from Mr. Hands that Lina, a BD star, has been kidnapped, and held against her will at a place called Brainporium. Lina wants a merc to help her which is where you come in. Fast Travel to the Golden Pacific terminal, and follow the road northeast until you can head right where the Grand Azalea is. Head between the two buildings then turn left when you can. Proceed forward and turn left again to find some stairs.
Take them to the top, then turn right when you get outside where you’ll find a broken bridge with a path leading up to it. Jump up to the bridge, and you’ll see the neon Brainporium sign in front of you. Continue forward, jump up to the next bridge then enter the building to your left. Here, you’ll find Shank.
Finding Sentimental Value for Tool in Dazed and Confused¶
Before we get into the main walkthrough of the job, there is an optional task that is mentioned, but it will not be added to the quest objective, and that is to help Tool to become himself again. You’ll find out by texting both Judy, and Viktor that you’ll need two things, one is Lina, the BD star, and the other is something with sentimental value from Tool. Now, if you take this route, the job will have a “better” ending, but you will miss out on the iconic melee weapon, Baby Boomer, so the choice is yours.
After you accept the job from Shank, head back into the basement, and search the cubicle next to Tool’s. On the floor, next to the heart-shaped pillow is a fan mail to Lina from him. This is the sentimental value thing you need to make Tool whole again. Now, it’s time to get Lina.
Talk to the Scavs at Lina’s Apartment Choice¶
Leave the Brainporium the way you came, head to the Golden Pacific Fast Travel on the road below, and use it to travel to Kress Street. From the Fast Travel, head through the container, and up the stairs where Lina’s “apartment” will be at the top of the orange stairs in front of you. However, at the bottom of the stairs are some Scavs.
Head over and speak to them and one extremely polite woman will ask you to leave. This will leave you with a couple of choices. Draw Weapon, or Does Lina Malina live here? If you have the Streetkid background, you can use this to convince the Scavs to leave, otherwise, you’ll have to make them. However you deal with them is up to you, but once you have dealt with them, head up the stairs, and knock on the door a couple of times.
It appears Lina isn’t home, so you’ll have to wait for her by sitting on the nearby lounger. Before you do this, you can break into Lina’s home for some loot. You can force open the door if you have 15 Body, climb up the ladder to the right of the apartment, and hack the shutter if you have 15 Technical, or you can jump on the roof, and enter via a hatch for free. Once you’re done looting, head outside and wait on the lounger for Lina to arrive.
How to Convince Lina to Help Tool¶
What she says next will change slightly depending on how you handled the situation with the Scavs, but you’ll soon have an important choice to make. You can either pay up the 10,000 credits she wants for joining your BD venture, or you can tell her the truth. Take Johnny’s advice, and lie to Lina, and pay up the cash otherwise the JOB WILL FAIL. If you don’t have the cash right now, you can tell her that, and the game will let you wire her the money when you do, but the quest won’t progress until you do so.
Lina and Tool Choices - How to get the Iconic Weapon, Baby Boomer¶
Read the text message from Shank, and wait until the next day. Look at your phone again, and Shank will tell you that Lina is at the Brainporium and that she’s arguing with Tool. Make your way back to the Brainporium and take a seat in the “director’s chair”. Here, is where you’ll need to make a big decision, two choices that result in a melee iconic weapon, or help Tool, and this can be done by what you tell them while in the chair. We recommend making a save here, so you can see the different scenes play out as they can be quite humorous.
The choices are:
-
“Tell him that he’s your sister.“*
-
“Convince him that he’s a clone created by the FIA.”
-
“Send Tool’s letter. Here are your lines.” (If you scanned Tool’s note earlier as we suggested).
The top two choices will give you the iconic Baby Boomer weapon with the top choice being the best for Shank as Lina will continue working with them while the second choice will have her just leave. Finally, the last choice will “fix” Tool, and he’ll become himself again, but you won’t get the Baby Boomer, so the choice is yours. We went with the Baby Boomer because we can’t use Tool as a weapon, but we’re heartless. Regardless of your choice, the mission will end, and you can let Mr. Hands know that the job’s complete via a text message.
