Cyberpunk 2077

Over the Edge

Walkthrough for the Side Job Over the Edge in Cyberpunk 2077, including how to find David’s Jacket.

Over the Edge is a hidden Side Job in Cyberpunk 2077, which was added to the game in the Edgerunners Update (Patch 1.6). Some familiarity with the anime is expected, as to start this quest you’ll need to make your way to the apartment of the anime’s protagonist, David.

How to Find David’s Apartment

To start this quest you’ll need to locate David’s apartment, Megabuilding H4, which can be found in Santo Domingo - Arroyo. Make your way to the Megabuilding H4 fast travel and when you arrive look up and to the right. The massive black-and-yellow building suspended above you is hard to miss, and despite the welcoming “NO ENTRY” scrawl (hard to see from this vantage), you need to make your way over there.

Follow the sidewalk towards Megabuilding H4, turn left when some shops block your path, then turn right when you reach the street. Cross the street at a crosswalk and once across you’ll find yourself right in front of Megabulting H4. Continue forward and work your way along the left side of the building, turn right when the building ends, continue past some huge yellow pipes, and turn right again when you find an alley. Some neon green graffiti on the wall will let you know you’re in the right place.

Search the trash can at the end of the alley to find a Braindance, which, if played, will treat you to an Edgerunners trailer. Once the trailer is over, this Side Job will begin.

After some text exchanges with “El Capitan” and Falco you’ll be able to loot David’s Jacket.

How to Obtain David’s Jacket

After the trailer ends you’ll be prompted to text Muamar “El Capitan” Reyes. Do so (hold DualSense-DPad-Down to access your contacts), press DualSense-ButtonSquare / Xbox-ButtonX to open up the messages menu, and pick the option “About David Martinez”. The text exchange is largely automated and when you have an option, it doesn’t matter what you say. The result is the same, El Capitan will agree to look into the matter, and you’ll need to wait a day.

Travel back to one of your apartments and sleep for 24 hours (waiting around doesn’t seem to have the desired effect) then stand around until you get a response from Falco. Respond however you wish, and at the end of the conversation Falco will tell you about “something nice” he left for you with El Capitan.

Make your way to the Dam Viewpoint fast travel and follow the road south and west to find El Capitan. On the ledge behind him you’ll find a crate containing David’s Jacket. Looting it will end this Side Job.
