One of the new features added with the Phantom Liberty expansion in Cyberpunk is Airdrops. Due to a story incident, Dogtown is walled off from outsiders. This means that Barghest, one of the main players in the area, needs to get supplies, but due to the region being locked down, they can only get them in the form of an Airdrop. Unless, you get there first, that is. Read below to discover what Airdrops are in Phantom Liberty, and why you will want to do them.
What are Airdrops?¶
From time-to-time, Barghest will get supplies delivered to them from the air. Once they’ve landed, a red smoke will rise from the floor showing you where it landed as well as a siren going off. You know, just to let a land with barely any laws know its exact location. I mean, surely no one will try to steal them.
How to Loot Airdrops¶
If you’re near a drop location (more on that later), you’ll hear the Airdrop…um…drop. Look around the area, and you’ll see red smoke rising somewhere in the vicinity while also hearing an obnoxious siren noise that gets louder as you approach the Airdrop. Before rushing in to claim the loot, you’ll need to defeat numerous enemies who have got to the Airdrop before you (damn, they’re quick). There are approximately around 10 or so enemies, some of them who can deal significant damage quickly. Make your way to the nearest cover, and start firing upon the enemies. Don’t worry about the police, they won’t bother with you for this unless a stray bullet hits a pedestrian.
Once you’ve dealt with the enemies, head over to the large chest-like object, and open it up, sometimes this will need to be hacked. The loot appears to be random, but it’ll usually have some good stuff in it, such as skill shards, weapon mods, clothing, resources, and sometimes, even weapons. Then you can loot the enemies after the battle which makes this activity fairly lucrative.
Airdrop Locations¶
The Airdrop locations appear to be at fixed locations, and spawn approximately within 5–10 minutes. These will rotate from spawn point to spawn point. Although it needs more testing, here are the locations that we can confirm where Airdrops spawn at repeatedly. Note, Airdrops only spawn in Dogtown, so don’t waste your time searching Night City for them. Here are the locations confirmed to always spawn:
1: South of Petrochem Stadium¶
Found in the northeast of Dogtown. Exit the Petrochem stadium via the southern exit, and immediately turn left. Follow the rubble until you reach a spiked wall with graffiti on it. Nearest Fast Travel: EBM Petrochem Stadium.
2: Undersea Reverie Hotel & Spa¶
This Airdrop can be found smack bang in the center of Dogtown on the second floor. The most notable landmark is the Roar/Pride of Eden Casino which is right next to it. Nearest Fast Travel: Golden Pacific.
3: High Peak Hotel and Resort Construction Site¶
Situated in the far south/southeast of Dogtown. You’ll need to climb several sets of stairs to reach this location. Nearest Fast Travel: Terra Cognita.
4: Terra Cognita¶
Terra Cognita can be found in the southwest of Dogtown. The Airdrop will more or less drop a little south of the Fast Travel. Nearest Fast Travel: Terra Cognita.
5: Brave Atlas¶
Finally, the last Airdrop can be found in the center of Dogtown, slightly to the west. The landmark you’re looking for is a large metallic ball-like structure. Nearest Fast Travel: Terra Cognita.
