Automatic Love

There are two conversations in Automatic Love that can affect how things play out, one less so than the other. While talking to whichever doll you picked, you can ask questions about Evelyn that’ll get you access to the booth she last worked in, bypassing a [Technical Ability 5] check. While talking to Woodman you can convince him to tell you where Evelyn ended up, bypassing a fight with Woodman and making your escape from the club much simpler.

(1 of 2) Be sure to gain access to Evelyn’s booth from your doll,

Be sure to gain access to Evelyn’s booth from your doll, (left), as it’ll allow you to witness what happened to Evelyn during her last shift at Clouds. (right)

Gaining Access to Evelyn’s Booth

  • “A customer attacked her?”
    • “Where did it happen?”
      • “How do I get in?”

Meet the doll you picked in booth #9 or #6 (depending on which doll you picked). What you say during your session doesn’t matter, only what you say after you give your safeword. Be sure to pick the above dialogue choices if you want to get into Evelyn’s booth (booth #11) and bypass a [Technical Ability 5] check.

(1 of 2) Depending on what you say, you’ll either provoke Woodman,

Depending on what you say, you’ll either provoke Woodman, (left), or convince him to tell you about Evelyn without violence. (right)

Interrogating Woodman

To learn what happened to Evelyn you’ll need to eventually talk to Woodman, which you’ll be prompted to do after talking to Tom, which in turn requires you to talk to the doll you selected. There are two ways this conversation can end: with you having to fight Woodman and get the information about Evelyn off his computer, or with Woodman voluntarily telling you about Evelyn. Given the fact that you’re not allowed to bring weapons into the brothel, a peaceful option is probably the better choice, especially since you’ll have to fight through numerous Tyger Claw gangers to escape.

  • “Looking for Evelyn Parker.”
    • “You look like a reasonable man - let’s make a deal.”
      • [Intelligence 20] “Looks like you’ve got a netrunner problem. I can help.”
        • “Tit for tat - only if you help me.”
          • “Not telling you shit.”: Provokes Woodman into attacking.
          • “You have to isolate the chip’s core layers.”: Woodman tells you where Evelyn was taken. Avoids conflict.
      • “I’ll pay for info.”
        • “You look worse than that…”: Provokes Woodman into attacking.
        • “Just wanna make a donation.”: Results in the same dialogue options as “You don’t understand what’s at stake.”.
      • “Sorry, done playing nice.”: Results in the same dialogue options as “You don’t understand what’s at stake.”.
    • “You don’t understand what’s at stake.”
      • “Wanna end up like Jotaro Shobo?”
        • “Shobo had an unlucky meeting.”: Woodman tells you where Evelyn was taken. Avoids conflict.
      • “I’ll tell the media everything.”
        • “Gonna take this to the news.”: Provokes Woodman into attacking.
      • “Your bosses should know how you treat customers.”
        • “I know you’ve been stealing.”
          • “Wonder what your Tyger Claws bosses would think.”: Provokes Woodman into attacking.
          • “Lemme tell you one more thing.”: Results in the same dialogue options as “You don’t understand what’s at stake.”.
        • “You’re higher-up than I thought.”: Woodman tells you where Evelyn was taken. Avoids conflict.
      • “Could end you with my bare hands.”: Provokes Woodman into attacking.
    • “Let’s not make this harder than it has to be.”
      • “One way or another, I’ll find out…”: Woodman tells you where Evelyn was taken. Avoids conflict.
  • “Tell me where Evelyn is.”
  • “I’m not leaving without info.”: Ultimately results in Woodman attacking.

As you can see, Woodman doesn’t respond well to direct threats. If at any point you say the following, you’ll provoke Woodman into attacking, either immediately or after the subsequent dialogue choices:

  • “You look worse than that…”
  • “Not telling you shit.”
  • “Gonna take this to the news.”
  • “Wonder what your Tyger Claws bosses would think.”
  • “I’m not leaving without info.”

If you want to navigate your conversation with Woodman peacefully, on the other hand, the following lines will get you the outcome you’re looking for:

  • “You have to isolate the chip’s core layers.”
  • “Shobo had an unlucky meeting.”
  • “You’re higher-up than I thought.”
  • “One way or another, I’ll find out…”
