Zenith Academy's Final Test Walkthrough - Sea of Stars

By
Jarrod Garripoli

When you arrive at Zenith Academy in Sea of Stars, you will be training to become Solstice Warriors. Once the flashback as children ends, you will return to the present era and be put to a final test, after a little brushing up on some combat. Speak to Headmaster Moraine and tell him you’re ready to go, which will start the final test before you’re done with Zenith Academy.

You will have one final test before you’re done at the Zenith Academy.

Final Trial Dungeon

Once you gain control after reciting your vows to the Headmaster, you can jump down the hole in the center of the platform. Moraine will give you 3x Tomato Club, in case you need any healing while taking the trial. Jump into the hole and you’ll land in a dungeon, which is what you’ll have to go through to complete your trial. Hop across the platforms to your north, then climb the ladder on the right side. You’ll see an object up here, which when interacted with, will open your item menu. You don’t have that item right now, so ignore it.

Look to the left of that receptacle for a lever and pull it, which will raise some platforms from the ground. Use those platforms to hop across to the left side and open the chest, for an Ornate Stone. Return to the right side and place the Ornate Stone in that object. Doing this will open some doors, allowing some enemies to appear on the ground. Defeat both enemies to make a rock wall appear, allowing you to climb to the next section.

This part is similar to the previous one, where you need to walk across the rope and open the chest on the left side, for another Ornate Stone. Opening the chest this time, though, will cause enemies to spawn. This is a good opportunity to use your Skills here, since you have three enemies. Zale’s Sunball, when concentrated on the middle enemy in this formation, will hit all three of them, too. Once you’ve defeated all of the enemies, place the stone in the receptacle on the right, which will enable the platform to activate.

(1 of 4) Hit the lever on the right side to make some platforms rise from the ground.

Take this platform up to another room. Interact with the post just below you to cause Wyrd to appear, who will be a “boss” battle. Note that Wyrd will completely heal you before the battle will begin.

Wyrd Boss Battle in Sea of Stars

Despite being the first encounter of the game that takes more than a few hits to defeat, Wyrd is still considered a tutorial fight. The main premise of the fight is that Wyrd will shift his weakness around, and it will spell it out for you, too, so you will always know what it is. When its weakness is Physical, just use normal attacks, but when it switches to Sun or Moon, that is when you can use your characters’ skills.

You really shouldn’t need healing in this fight, as Wyrd’s attacks are pretty weak, only doing about 6 damage. Note that if you wish to perform a Timed Block, Wyrd has an annoying long wind-up on his punch attack, so you might need to see it a few times to get the timing down. If you see the Locks appear, break it to stop his skill, called Energy Release; it really only does like 5 damage to each character. You should be able to finish the battle quite easily.

(1 of 5) It can be hard to get a Timed Block on Wyrd’s attack.

Once you’ve finished off Wyrd, you will have enough experience to level up for the first time. Similar to Super Mario RPG, you will be able to choose a bonus stat to level up. If you wish to know more info on this, check out the Best Level Up Stats to Choose page. When you’re done, exit to the south and drop down the ledge to return to Headmaster Moraine. You will now be done with the trial and it’s time to leave the town, since you will need to now “do magic without doing magic.”

You’ll receive your first two Relics as you are leaving Mooncradle.

A scene will take place in the town and at the exit, you’ll be given another 3x Tomato Club, as well as two Relics, the Amulet of Storytelling and Sequent Flare. Relics are basically items that can be turned off and on in the game’s menu, allowing you to customize your experience with the game. As an example, Sequent Flare will shoot a flare into the air, whenever you correctly perform a Timed Hit/Block. You will now leave the town and be on the world map, with the next destination being the Forbidden Cavern once more.
