Sea of Stars

All Necromancer's Lair Chests in Sea of Stars

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The Necromancer’s Lair is an area you will visit after passing through the Flooded Graveyard, in Sea of Stars. It’s a fairly large dungeon, but you will be able to get all eight of the treasure chests on your first visit through the place. This area is special, as you get the Graplou here, which is one of the few important traversal tools in the game.

Treasure Chest 1

Just inside the dungeon is a chest with an artifact for Teaks.

The first chest in the Necromancer’s Lair is definitely the easiest, as it’s very hard to miss. As soon as you enter the dungeon, you will have to jump into the water. On the side of the half-submerged pillar in the water will be the chest, which contains Romaya’s Hairpin, an artifact you can show to Teaks at any campfire.

Treasure Chest 2

Don’t forget to grab this chest while going through the first side room.

The main goal of this dungeon is to hunt down three Revenants and defeat them, in order to open the main locked door that leads to the boss. The first one is found in the same room as the locked door, but the other two are on the side paths. You will have to go to the Northeast Path first, which is where you will find this treasure chest. As you navigate this section, you will climb up to a higher ledge and have to go around to kick down a ladder. Right before you kick down the ladder, you will pass by a chest, so open it for a Spectral Cape.

Treasure Chest 3

There is another chest off to the side here.

In the same area as the previous chest, after kicking down the ladder, you will be able to use the southern of the two moving platforms (the ones with levers on them). Hit the normal lever in the area to move those platforms, then climb the ladder you knocked down to get around to the other side, giving you access to the second platform. Use this to get to the southern side of the room, where you’ll find the chest to your south (Obsidian Ore).

Treasure Chest 4

This is the chest that contains the Graplou key item. Since it is needed to progress through the dungeon, you cannot miss it.

Treasure Chest 5

(1 of 2) Grapple to the enemy across the gap near the Spectral Cape chest.

Still on the Northeast Path, backtrack to where you opened the chest with the Spectral Cape, after getting the Graplou. There will be an area to the northeast, where you see some Mermofwizquard enemies teleporting around there. Wait at the gap until one is across from you, then grapple it to get over to the other side. Win that battle, then look in the northeastern corner for the chest with the Rainbow Conch.

Treasure Chest 6

The final three chests will be found on the Northwest Path in the Necromancer’s Lair. When you first get to this area, follow the main trail in the first room and you will eventually arrive in a second room. As soon as you enter that second room, there will be a chest right in front of you. Open it up for a new weapon for Valere, the Osseous Staff.

(1 of 2) The second room here will have a chest in plain view.

Treasure Chest 7

After looting the previous chest, grapple to the right, then to the north. As soon as you do the second grapple, look to the left to spot the basket, which contains a Mooncradle Fish Pie.

Treasure Chest 8

(1 of 3) You can see a chest past the bone piles, right by the final Revenant.

The final chest on this list can be easily missed, not because it’s out of the way, but you might think it’s not possible to get. It’s found at the very end of the Northwest Path, right next to where you fought the Revenant. On the right side of that area, you will see a large pile of bones and on the northern end will be the chest. You can actually get that now, as there is an invisible path through the bones that leads you right to the chest. Start by checking near the green candles for the entrance to the hidden path. Once you found the starting point, head right, down, right, up, left, and up to reach the chest, which contains a Revenant Armor.
